The first quarterly sessions and circuit courts were held at the home of James Yates on Toms Creek<\/li>\n<li><strong>1821<\/strong> &#8211; the county seat was established at Perryville, on the west bank of the Tennessee River, where it remained until 1846<\/li>\n<li><strong>1846<\/strong> &#8211; the county was divided.\u00a0 The portion west of the Tennessee River became Decatur County.\u00a0 The portion east of the Tennessee River remained Perry County;<\/li>\n<li><strong>1846<\/strong> &#8211; the new Perry County seat was located at Harrisburg<\/li>\n<li><strong>1848<\/strong> &#8211; the Perry County seat was moved to Linden<\/li>\n<li><strong>1863<\/strong> &#8211; Courthouse fire<\/li>\n<li><strong>1928<\/strong> &#8211; the Perry County courthouse, a colonial revival design by Nashville architect C.K.
