He was born, in 1846 in Buckingham County, Virginia, and was the son of James Flowers. He was reared in Buckingham and Campbell Counties, Virginia. While he was a resident of Buckingham County he enlisted in the spring of 1781 and served three months in Captain Silas Williams&#8217; Virginia Company. At the close of this service he enlisted as a substitute for this father in Captain Peter Gearin&#8217;s company under Major Bois in Virginia troops and was at the Seige of Yorktown and at the surrender of Cornwallis, serving three months. After the war he continued to reside in Virginia until he was 22 years of age when he moved to Overton County, Tennessee. He drew pension in Fentress County, that part which had been in Overton County. He died in Fentress County, September 23, 1837. He married in Buckingham County, Virginia, about December 1, 1782, Ann or Anna Jarot or Garrott, who was born about March 15, 1762. She applied for pension in October, 1838, while residing in Fentress County. She died May 29, 1854. They had twelve children as follows: William, the eldest, born about August 1783; Betsey; James; Rowland, Jr.; Arthur; Rosanna; Maggie; Sally; Polly; Delila and Judy. Judy, the youngest child aged 31 in 1838, married Rodney King and had eight children. Earlier James had bought land from his wife Elizabeth&#8217;s parents heirs John and Henry Graham. Survivors include a son, Raymond Silvers of Waynesburg; a daughter, Edna Padgett of Waynesburg; four brothers, the Rev. Jerry Zachary of Helenwood, Tenn., the Rev. Cornell Zachary of Albuquerque, N.M., the Rev. Eldred Zachary of Vancouver, Wash. and the Rev. Alford Zachary of Nancy; three sisters, Dora Hutson of Florida, Lucy Morris of Michigan, Zana Cooper of Chinoe, Calif.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.<br \/>\nFuneral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Revs. Cecil Roundtree, and Bola Brown officiating. He was the son of the late Herstle (Buck) Gibson and Etta Willoughby Gibson and was also preceded in death by an infant son. Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Gibson Snider and Mica Gibson; two sisters, Faye Hileman and Joan Key; one brother, Daniel Gibson; four grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends. A memorial services was held on Friday, March 15, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral<br \/>\nhome, with Rev. Geneva Summers officiating. WEST-MURLEY FUNERAL HOME was in charge of the arrangements.<br \/>\nNote: DANNY ROBBINS, a close friend of Donny, spoke at the funeral. He played the guitar and sang two songs.<\/p>\n<p>9.
