Biography<\/h2>\n

Stephen West served in the Civil War.  His daughter, Martha, married William Ervin Butram, another veteran whose information is in a separate article on this site. <\/p>\n

Stephen WEST, son of Stephen West and Mary Belk, was born 1 Aug 1809 in Overton County, Tennessee. He died 3 Oct 1905 (or 18 Oct 1905?) in Overton County, Tennessee, and was buried in West Cemetery moved to Hatcher Hall Cemetery. Stephen married 1, 2 Eliza A. BROWN on 5 Jan 1831.<\/p>\n

Eliza A. BROWN, son of John Brown and Unknown, 1 was born 19 Aug 1813 in Overton County, Tennessee. She died 1 Aug 1886 in Overton County, Tennessee, and was buried in West Cemetery moved to Hatcher Hall Cemetery. Eliza married Stephen WEST on 5 Jan 1831.<\/p>\n

They had the following children:<\/p>\n

  1. William Madison WEST was born 1832 and died 1893.<\/li>\n
  2. Lucinda WEST 1 was born 5 Aug 1833. She died 17 Dec 1906 in Hatcher Hall Overton and was buried in West Cemetery moved to Hatcher Hall Cemetery.<\/li>\n
  3. Richard LaFayette WEST was born 1835 and died 1881.<\/li>\n
  4. Elmira Matheny WEST was born 25 Jun 1837 and died 1927.<\/li>\n
  5. Martha WEST was born 26 Jul 1839 and died 26 May 1879.<\/li>\n
  6. Nancy WEST was born 15 Jul 1841. She died 1 Mar 1918 and was buried in West Cemetery moved to Hatcher Hall Cemetery.<\/li>\n
  7. Martelia Matthews WEST was born 3 Sep 1844 and died 1929.<\/li>\n
  8. Caroline Summers WEST was born 10 Nov 1846 and died 14 May 1927.<\/li>\n
  9. Eliza Jane Harrison WEST was born 20 Mar 1849 and died 1922.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
