This indenture made and entered into This 9th day of June 1883 between Mandy STEPP and her heirs of The first part and Daniel SMITH of The second part all of The County of Fentress and State of Tennessee Witnepeth That for and inconsideration of The sum of one hundred dollars The receipt of which Forty four dollars is acknowledged we have This day bargained and sold to the said Daniel SMITH a Certain tract or parcel of land lying in the 3rd Civil District of said County & State – Bounded as follows to wit. Beginning on Three black oaks Joined together at the ground, with a double hickory pointer standing about 10 feet north of The black oaks, some twenty feet south of The ridge road That leads from where James COPLY now lives to Henry SHILLINGS running in a Southerly direction from said corner down a hollow to White Oak Thence with the north bank of said Creek to B. R. Stocktons west Boundary line Thence north with said line to the ridge road near James COPPLY Thence E [as submitted]
