Spurrier – This was about as far up stream as a shallow draft boat could travel on the Obey River. Here, East Fork and West Fork met in a narrow river bottom. Logging was what gave this site its name. Eventually the Spurrier family shut down the operation, and Dale Hollow Lake covered the site. There were several oil wells between Spurrier and what is now Obey River Park. The Army Corps of Engineers just plugged up the wells when Dale Hollow Lake was built. A few are starting to leak from time to time.
