W.E. PUTTY preached at the Christian Church Saturday night and Sunday Morning. He has many friends here and is always a welcome visitor. Come again Brother William.

P.D. STAGGS has moved his fine steam saw mill from Algood to Mill Creek.

Bob DAVIS and Geneva DICKERSON were married October 20th. Esq. S.C. WARD officiating.

Dr. T.A. LANGFORD has made quite an improvement of his premises by the building of a substantial wood house and the addition of a nice plank fence around his yard. Verily the Doctor is one of Hilhams most progressive citizens and a most genial good fellow.

J.C. COPELAND has moved into his property at this place.

Shird BILYEU and family are in from Kentucky on a visit.

GAINSBORO SENTINAL

Eld. Loyd WHITE, of Gallatin, is conducting an interesting meeting at the Christian Church.

H.H. CASON carried four wagon loads of household goods to Double Springs Tuesday to ship them to Woodbury where he recently purchased a farm. His family will move about the first of January.

Last Sunday at the home of the brides Mother, about 3 miles north of Gainsboro, Mr. G.W. CHAPMAN, of Roaring River, and Miss Nannie YOUNGBLOOD were married. Esq. Marion HARRIS officiating. Both are highly esteemed and have numerous friends. The following Gainsboro people attended: MESSRS, J.J. GORE, D.B. JOHNSON, W.G. SADLER, J.W. PICKETT, G.B. SETTLE, and Misses Flora BILBREY, Lola CHAPMAN and Martha JOHNSON.

Smallpox has broken out afresh in Leslie County, Kentucky

William McWHORTER, of Laurel Co., Kentucky, has become insane over Mormonism.

Ned HYDE of Texas aged 61, ran away from Princeton, Kentucky with the 14 year old daughter of J.E. BROWN. The girls father is in pursuit.

James A. SMITH, a painter, commited suicide at Ashland, Kentucky by swallowing carbolic acid. He left a note to his wife signed “Your Devil, James H. SMITH”

John R. BULLOCK was up from Hilham Saturday, and renewed his subscription to the Crescent while he was here.

HANKINS Bros. went to Putnam County last Saturday to build a residence for Dr. REECE on what is known as the McDANIEL farm

J.W. HENSON, Liverman, has sold out to S.J. DECK. When you want a rig Mr. DECK will accomidate you at the Goff Feed stable.

Mrs. Irwin HENSON returned from Poteet last Wednesday where she had been spending the past three weeks with her daughter, Mrs. Mattie POTEET.

H.R. VAUGHN and wife visited relatives in the country Saturday and Sunday

J.L. COPELAND�s school closed at Pond Ridge last Saturday and he will begin a winter school there next Monday

A report over the telephone states that Jim PADGETT, son of Marion PADGETT, near Eastport, is supposed to have committed suicide loast Wednesday. He had been out hunting and when found had a bullet hole in his forehead.

Mrs. KIMES, mother of our late Supt. Elbert KIMES, died at her home on the West Fork Sunday morning at 8 o�clock of Typhoid Fever. We extend our deepest symapthy to the bereaved husband and all other members of the family. It seems hard to give up another loved one so soon, but God knows what is best and he giveth his beloved rest.

COOKEVILLE PRESS

Hon. W.J. MATTHEWS of Overton County was here Saturday.

Capt. Cordell HULL of Celina was in Cookeville Monday.

Mrs. J.G. DUKE has returned from a visit to her daughter Mrs. J.L. MIMS in Lincoln County.

Last Tuesday the house with all the contents belonging to ex-county clerk A. BRYANT, which is two miles west of town, was destroyed by fire. There was no one in the house at the time but Mr. BRYANT being a cripple was barely able to save himself. The fire originated from a defective flue. The loss will amount to $800.00 with $500.00 insurance.

CROSSVILLE NEWS DEMOCRAT

S.J. HILL of Goodwill was in town Saturday. Mr. HILL so far as we have heard is the champion potatoe raiser of this section. He brought us a bushel of potatoes and it only took a hundred of them to make a bushel at that.

On Thursday December 14th, 1899 at the courthouse door of Livingston, expose to public sale to the highest bidder for cash in hand the following described tract or parcel of land lying in Overton County, Dist. 11 and is bounded as follows: On the north by WHITE, south by CULLOM, east by WILLIAMS, and west by WHITE, containing 50 acres more or less, being the lands that defendant got of Bob TAYLOR, and lying near what is known as the RYAN Springs. Levied on as the lands of H.M. VAUGHN subject to homestead rights therein and subject to the rights of redemption. Sale within legal hours. This sale will be conducted to settle a judgement and costs in favor of J.M. SHELTON vs. H.M. VAUGHN. This October 30, 1899
