Andrew Shortridge Revolutionary War Pension Application Abstract
Andrew Shortridge applied for revolutionary pension in August, 1834, while he resided in Fentress County, Tennessee. He was born in Scotland in 1756 and came to America with his parents when he was an infant. He enlisted in Petersburg, Virginia, in 1781 in Captain Gardner s Virginia company. At the close of the tour he re-enlisted in Captain Armistead’s company, Colonel Gall’s Virginia regiment and served in Albermarle County, Virginia. Alter the Revolution he lived in Frederick and Russell Counties, Virginia, and then moved to Pulaski County, Kentucky, where he lived 18 years. He moved to Fentress County, Tennessee, in 1827. He died there February 26, 1846. He married about April, 1789. Nancy Garrison at the home of her father in Tazewell, Virginia. She was 15 years of age in August, 1789, four months after her marriage. She applied for a widow’s pension in 1853 in Fentress County, where she died. They had ten children.
