Levi Robbins Family of Overton County

The following information was found on a defunct Robbins page maintained by John L. German and now only available via the Internet Archive with a last-updated year of 2005.  If a newer location is available, please let us know.

Research Focuses

1. Levi Robbins, c1806-c1856, was the father of James Robbins, 1828-1908. Little is known of Levi Robbins. He appears to reside in eastern Overton Co. in the 1830, 1840 and 1850 census, but by 1860, his widow Anna (what is her last name?) and family have moved to the Hilham vicinity. Who were Levi Robbins’s parents??
2. We’ve found an older James Robbins, born c1775, enumerated in the 1820 and 1830 census of Overton Co. He was married to an Elizabeth Pennington whose father Levi Pennington made his will in 1807 in Spartanburg Co., South Carolina. James Robbins was a witness to this will. He was in Overton Co. by late 1817. What were the names of the children of James and Elizabeth (Pennington) Robbins??

JAMES ROBBINS (son of LEVI) was born October 22, 1828 in West Fork, Overton Co.,TN, and died December 10, 1908 in Gray, Overton Co., TN. He married (1) SARAH ELIZABETH COOK November 15, 1857 daughter of STANFORD COOK and LOURANA ROOCKS. He also fathered two children by MARGARET ANN COOK, sister of SARAH COOK.
