SARAH BUCHANAN, relict of Samuel Buchanan, formerly of this county, aged about 70 years.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/span><sub><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Published in the Fayetteville Observer &#8211; Thursday, February 10th, 1859 &#8211; Page 3<\/span><\/sub><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>CALDWELL, Varner<\/strong> (1838) &#8211; &#8220;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DIED \u2014 In Obion County, on the 31st Sept. last, Mr. Varner Caldwell, a highly esteemed citizen of this county, in the 43rd year of his age.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sub>Published in the West Tennessean of Paris, Tennessee &#8211; Friday, November 30th, 1838 &#8211; page 3.<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>CORNWELL, Joseph<\/strong> (1852) &#8211; &#8220;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jo. Cornwell, a vagabond drunken tailor, was found dead in the streets of Troy, Obion Co, Tenn., on the 10th inst. He has a respectable family at Memphis.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sub>Published in the Louisville Daily Courier (Louisville, KY) &#8211; Wednesday, July 21st, 1852 &#8211; page 3.<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MITCHELL, John B. <\/strong>(1841) &#8211; &#8220;<em>Horrid deeds ! \u2014<\/em> As Mr. John B. Mitchell, of Obion County, Tenn. was seated at the supper table, surrounded by his family, on a quiet Sabbath evening, he was shot dead by some cowardly assassin outside the door. A man by th ename of James N. Stone is suspected, who is described as being a heavy built man, near six feet high, broad face, hair and eyes black, and a large scar across his nose. The citizens have offered a reward of several hundred dollars for his apprehension.&#8221;<sub><br \/>\nPublished in The Independent Monitor (Tuscaloosa, AL) &#8211; Wednesday, November 3rd, 1841 &#8211; page 3.<\/sub><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MOULTRIE, William<\/strong> (1843) &#8211; &#8220;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Wm. Moultrie, a respectable citizen of Obion County, while handling a loaded gun, accidentally shot himself on the 25th ult., and died instantly.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sub>Published in The Tennessean &#8211; Nashville, Tennessee &#8211; Monday, January 16th, 1843 &#8211; page 2.<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>TOTTEN, Amanda Malvina<\/strong> (1841) &#8211; &#8220;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DIED, At Totten&#8217;s Wells, Obion County, on the 23rd inst., AMANDA MALVINA, the youngest daughter of Benjamin Totten, Esq. She had suffered a protracted illness, which she bore with Christian patience and fortitude. Her friends and acquaintances deeply deplore the loss of one who so richly deserved their love and esteem.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/span><sub><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Published in the Nashville Union &#8211; Monday, August 30th, 1841 &#8211; page 3.<\/span><\/sub><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>TOTTEN, Mary<\/strong> (1842) &#8211; &#8220;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DIED \u2014 At Totten&#8217;s Wells, Obion County, Tenn., on the 26th ult., MRS. MARY TOTTEN, consort of Benjamin Totten, Esq., aged 63 years. This dispensation has been taken from a circle of relations and friends, an aged matron, who had well performed her duty in life \u2014 and who was much loved, venerated and esteemed.
