DAGLEY, INA B. HICKMAN, 82, of Wartburg, died
Saturday morning, April 29th, in the Harriman Hospital. She was the
wife of the late Rev. Roy Dagley and was a member of the Liberty Baptist
Church. Survivors are three daughters: Mrs. Ina Mae Hope of Maryville,
Mrs. Faye Huffman of Allardt and Mrs. Margaret LaRue of Lancing, two sons:
Bobby Dagley of Seattle, Washington, and Roy Dagley of Johnston Island,
South Pacific; 28 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters also survive: Elmer Hickman of Ringgold,
Georgia, Riley Hickman of Wartburg; Gene Hickman of Maryland; Mrs. Christine
Lett of Knoxville and Mrs. Dora Phillips of Greenville. Funeral services
were held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, with the Rev.
William Keebler officiating. Interment followed in the Wartburg Cemetery,
with Schubert of Wartburg in charge of arrangements. (Source:

DAGLEY, JAMES SHARP "UNCLE JIM" --Uncle
Jim Dagley Dies: Was 91—James Sharp Dagley, a long-time resident of Morgan
County, died at 10:15 a.m., Friday, October 1, at his home on Rt. 1, Wartburg,
after a long illness. He was 91. Born and reared in Scott County,
“Uncle Jim”, as Mr. Dagley was widely known, came to Morgan County at age
of 22. In 1899 he was married to Maggie Redmon, of Wartburg, who
with three daughters and two sons, survive. Mr. nd Mrs. Dagley observed
their 66th wedding anniversary April 21st of this year. For many
years Mr. Dagley was in the sawmill and stave business and in later years
had a coal business. He had been retired a number of years.
The surviving children are: Mrs. Harl Kreis and Mrs. Bonnie Howard, both
of Harriman, and Mrs. Eugene Price, Roy and Louis Dagley, all of Wartburg.
Also surviving are eighteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren,
one sister, Mrs. Linda Jones of Petros; a half-sister, Mrs. Laura Brown
of Racine, W.Va., and a half-brother, Dean Dagley of Clinton. Funeral
services were held Sunday afternoon from the Schubert Funeral Home Chapel
in Wartburg with the Rev. H. L. Yates, pastor of the Liberty Baptist Church,

DAGLEY, LOUIS, 78, Wartburg, passed away Thursday,
Nov. 3, 1994, at his home in Wartburg. A lifelong resident of Morgan
County, he was a retired mechanic and school bus driver. He was a
member of Liberty Baptist Church. He enjoyed many years of fishing,
and hunting with his family and friends. He was proceeded in death
by his parents James and Maggie Redmon Dagley; two brothers Roy and Willie;
one sister Bonnie Howard; and two infant children. He is survived
by his loving wife of 53 years Georgie Van Norstran Dagley and five children
and in-laws: Marie and Frank Freytag, James and Brenda Dagley, Johnny and
Tanuja Dagley, Pam and Billy Lively and Angie and Don Lemons, all of Wartburg;
ten grandchildren and six great
grandchildren; two sisters Agnes Kries and Bessie Price,
both of Wartburg; and a host of family and friends. The family received
friends, Friday, Nov. 4, at Schuberts Funeral Home in Wartburg. Funeral
services were Saturday, Nov. 5. Pastor William Keebler officiated.
Serving as pallbearers were Eddie Freytag, Tommy Freytag, Allen Dagley,
Larry Potter, Frank VanNorstran and Paul LaRue. Interment followed
at Morgan Memorial Gardens. Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg, in charge

DAGLEY,
LOUIS S., 59, Wartburg, died Wednesday evening, May 13, 1981, at Oak
Ridge Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II. He is survived
by two brothers: Arkell Dagley of Deer Lodge and Arthur of Taylor Township,
Michigan; and two sisters: Shirley Sampson of Wartburg and Nina Ruth Hurley
of Dayton, Ohio. Also surviving are five nieces and three nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Schubert Funeral Home
Chapel, with Rev. Gerald Bland and Rev. Glenn Patton officiating.
Interment followed in Wartburg Cemetery with Schuberts of Wartburg in charge.

DAGLEY, MAGGIE --Mrs. Maggie Dagley, 98, of Wartburg,
died Saturday morning, July 14, in Oak Ridge Hospital. She is survived
by a son, Louis Dagley, of Wartburg; two daughters, Mrs. Agnes Kreis of
Harriman and Mrs. Bessie Price of Wartburg; 27 grandchildren, 50 great
grandchildren, and 16 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are
two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Bingham and Mrs. Mary Phillips both of Wartburg.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m., at Schubert Funeral Home,
with the Rev. Homer Yates officiating. Burial followed in Wartburg

DAGLEY, REBA CHESTER, -- Reba Dagley Dies
After Long Illness--Mrs. Reba Chester Dagley of Wartburg, wife of the late
George W. DaglDagley, Reba, Mrs. -- Reba Dagley Dies After Long Illness--Mrs.
Reba Chester Dagley of Wartburg, wife of the late George W. Dagley who
served as Trustee, County Judge and County Attorney of Morgan County, died
Friday, August 28, after a long illness. She was 64. Mrs. Dagley
was an active member of the Wartburg Presbyterian Church. She was
Elder in the church and had served as Clerk of the Session and Treasurer
of the church for a number of years. She was a member of the Petros
Chapter of the Order Eastern Star and for several years she had served
on Morgan County Library Board. She was also active member of the
Auxiliary of the American Legion Post in Wartburg. Three sons, Russell
of Santa Susana, Calif., Chester of Wartburg, and George W., Jr., of Clinton;
a daughter, Mrs. J. D. Myra Gene Goad of Knoxville, and thirteen grandchildren
survive. Mrs. Dagley was born in Jonesboro, Tennessee, but had spent
most of her life in Morgan County. Mr. Dagley died in August 1956.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Schubert Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. William Waits, pastor of the Wartburg Presbyterian
Church, officiating. Burial was in the Wartburg Cemetery. Billy
Tanner, Dave Kaufman, O. J. Potter, Clem Van Norstran, Joe Bingham and
John R. Dillon, all members of Mrs. Dagley's Sunday School Class, served

DAGLEY, ROBERT DEAN—Robert Dean Dagley, 82, formerly
of Rockwood, died Tuesday, January 4, in a Huntington, W. Va., hospital.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services Saturday
11 a.m. Schubert Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Robert Campbell officiating.
Burial was in Wartburg cemetery with Schuberts of Wartburg in charge.

DALTON, JO ANN PRATT - age
58 of Oakdale, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at her Oakdale home.
Formerly of Knoxville, Mrs. Dalton, was a member of Rankin Chapel Baptist
Church and a former member of Pratt's Chapel Baptist Church. She was employed
by the University of Tennessee Medical Center for more than 20 years and
was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Preceding her in death are: her
parents, Molinus and Dorothy Pratt; brothers, Ray, Swancie, and Burl Pratt;
sister, Pauline Pratt Cook; and a sisters- in-law, Mary Pratt and Janice
Pratt. Surviving is: her husband of 34 years, Donald Dalton of Oakdale;
her pet, "Snuggles"; brothers and sister-in-laws, M.D. and Ida Pratt, Buck

He was born 7/4/1924. He was a WWII Veteran and after 50 years, was finally

War II Victory. Preceded by parents, William Calvin and Alice Langley Daniel;

DAUGHTERY, MISS AMANDA RENEE, age 25, went to
be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday October 19, 2009. Amanda
fought a life long battle with diabetes. She was also known as "Pooh Bear"
by the family that loved her dearly. Amanda had a special place in her
heart for her nephews Aidan and Andrew, who she was very proud of Amanda

DAUGHTERY, BEN F., 86, of Bethpage, Tenn., formerly
of Oak Ridge, passed away at his residence Wednesday Jan. 9, 2008. He was
born April 28, 1921, in Petros to General Sheridan and Rhoda Helen Price
Daugherty, both now deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife,
Hattie Sue Jenkins Daugherty; sons, Ronald and James Melvin (Jimmy) Daugherty;
sisters, Gertie Daugherty, Lena Mae Seiber, and Callie Armes; and brothers,
Oscar Floyd and Henry Daugherty.Mr. Daugherty was of the Baptist faith.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army World War II serving in Normandy, Northern
France and Thineland. He received the Purple Heart Fame Theatre Ribbon
with three Bronze stars, American Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct
Ribbon and was wounded in action in Lurembourg. He retired from Pan American
Airways as a security guard. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, in Oak Ridge,
a member of the Purple Hearts Club and also a member of the Moose Lodge
in Florida. He love and enjoyed his family and enjoyed doing crossword
puzzles. He is survived by a son, Larry Daugherty of New Orleans, La. His
caregiver and longtime companion, Sue Thompson of Oak Grove, Tenn. He has
10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren;
and his sister, Jeanette Reynolds and husband, Larry, of Coalfield. Mr.
Daugherty is also survived by three brothers, David Daugherty of Nashville,
Jimmy Daugherty and wife, Wanda, of Petros, and Roger Daugherty and wife,
Darlas, of Oliver Springs.The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan.
12, 2008, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev.
Wayne Morgan of Union Valley Baptist Church in Windrock officiating, and
the Hallelujah Praise Singers will provide the music. Interment will be
at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with military

DAUGHTERY, BURL, age 52, a resident of Coalfield,
died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at his home while surrounded by family and
friends. Mr. Daugherty was born July 14, 1956 in Oliver Springs. He was
a lifelong resident of Coalfield.Burl worked in the oil business as a manager
at King Energy for 18 years and Appalachian Productions for the past 3
years.He was a member of the Caney Branch Baptist Church in Goby. Burl
enjoyed camping and fishing with his family.He is survived by his wife,
Frankie Jackson Daugherty of Coalfield, by parents, Cleve and Cora Parton
Daugherty, by children; Beverly Devaney and husband Tommy of Oliver Springs,

DAUGHERTY, MRS. CAROLYN MELVALENE, was called
home, to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 29, 2009, surrounded
by her loving family. She was a member of Cove Road Primitive Baptist Church
in Oliver Springs, TN.Mrs. Daugherty was retired from Lakeshore Mental
Hospital. She had an unmeasureable love for family and all those she came
into contact with. She was fondly known as Granny to many children of all

DAUGHTERY,
D. B., 80, of Coalfield, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Methodist
Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Born Jan. 26, 1924, in Anderson County, he
was the son of Watson Daugherty and Mary Goad Daugherty. He was a lifelong
resident of this area. Mr. Daugherty was a member of Middle Creek Baptist
Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II.
He retired from TVA, where he worked in boiler maintenance. His special
interests were woodworking and farming. He was fondly known as "the Farmer"
by many of his friends, his family said. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, Odie Daugherty,
Jodie Daugherty, Ovie Daugherty, Novella Daugherty and Offella McCoy. Mr.
Daugherty is survived by his wife, Naomi Jackson Daugherty; his son, Steve
Watson Daugherty and wife, Sherry; his daughter, Sandra Justice and her
husband, Byron; his grandchildren, Kayla Nicole Justice and Stewart Watson
Daugherty; and his great-granddaughter, Hayle Nicole Daugherty, all of
Coalfield. He is also survived by Mitchell Chadwick, a farming buddy and
special friend; and several nieces, nephews, special friends and extended
family members. The funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004,
in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Don
Daugherty and the Rev. Michael Beech officiating. A graveside service will

DAUGHERTY, FRAZIER 77, -- of Stonewall Street,
Cartersville, GA, died Friday Aug 18, 1995. He was born September
16, 1917, in Morgan County, a son of Joseph and Ellen Daugherty.
He was employed with the State of GA, a member of the Cartersville Retired
men’s club and a member of Heritage Baptist Church. He is survived
by his wife Rei Daugherty of Cartersville, a daughter and son-in-law Sandra
and Harry Lay, Jr., of Fairmont and a grandson, Harry Lay II of Fairmont.

DAUGHTERY, GAIL ATHYNE BAKER, of Troutsville,
Virginia and formerly of Coalfield, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 following
a 10 year battle with cancer of which she is now free of. Gail was born
on June 30, 1947 in Spencer, TN, the daughter of Lester and Athyne Baker.
She moved to Virginia 32 years ago and has spent most of those years in
Troutsville.Gail was preceded in death by her father Lester Baker by two
brothers, Carl and Glenn Baker, and by a sister in law Dee Baker all of
Tennessee. Gail devoted her life to her family and she was an active member
of the Vinton Women’s Club.She is survived by her husband of 43 years,
Louie Daugherty; by her children and their spouse’s, Nikki Griffin and
husband Scott, Kim Monaghan and husband Matt all of Troutsville, by her
mother, Athyne “Granny” Baker of Oliver Springs, by sisters; Louise Davis

DAUGHTERY, GRACE, 98, of Oliver Springs,
died early today, Dec. 28, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.Born
July 28, 1903, in Petros, she was the daughter of Wesley and Mary Louis
Kendrick Hill. Mrs. Daugherty was a homemaker and a member of Coal Hill
Baptist Church in Coalfield. She enjoyed making quilts and pot holders,
gardening and going to church, and enjoyed her companion, her dog, Benji,
her family said, adding that she always helped those in need and took care
of others. They described her as a very loving and special wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.Mrs. Daugherty
is survived by two sons, Gerald Daugherty of New Orleans, La., and Reece
Daugherty and his wife, Rose Marie, of Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, June
Webster of Oliver Springs, Rita Ball and Ruby Shanks and her husband, H.C.,
all of Oak Ridge, and Opal Mitchell and Wallace of Hattiesburg, Miss. She
is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

was called home Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the Roane Medical Center, Harriman.
She was born August 7, 1920 to Jim and Rose Wallace. She loved her flowers
and working in the yard. She was united with her husband of 54 years, Kenneth
Daugherty; two sons: Dennis Ray and Kenny Daugherty; and sister, Bernice
Presley. She is survived by her five daughters: Kathy Miller of Lenoir

LONALD J., 75, Oliver Springs, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005
in the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was born March 2, 1930
in the Fork Mountain community of Anderson County. He had been a faithful
member of Tuppertown Baptist Church for over 30 years. Mr. Daugherty retired
from the Tennessee Department of Corrections in 1995, after working 21
years as a guard at the Brushy Mountain State Prison. He was a United States
Army veteran, serving his country during WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, retiring
Jan. 1, 1969 after 21 years of service. He was also a member of the Disabled
American Veterans, Tri-County Chapter No. 26. He was preceded in death
by his father, Leonard Daugherty; mother, Bessie Duncan; sons, L. Jack
Daugherty and Lonald "P-Nut" Daugherty; brothers, Leamon Daugherty, Leonard
Daugherty, Jr. and J.W. Daugherty; sister, Mary Lola Lowe; step-brothers,

of Correction at Brushy Mountain State Prison. He was also a member of
the Black Diamond Masonic Lodge No. 625, F. & A.M. He was preceded

W.B., 54, Wartburg, passed away Aug. 30, 2001 in the Life Care
Center of Morgan County. He served two years in the U.S. Army. He was preceded
in death by his parents Virgil and Alta Daughterty of Wartburg; sister

DAUGHTERY,
WARREN GEORGE, 81, of Wartburg, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge, following a long illness. Born June 21, 1922,
he was the son of Dewey Daugherty Sr. and Josephine Daughterty Worley.
His family said he was an avid church member and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
According to his family, he enjoyed working with children as he was a retired
Head Start volunteer worker. He was a member of Victory Bible Baptist Church.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a lifelong member of Disabled American Veterans,
Chapter No. 26, and the Odd Fellows Lodge, Chapter No. 54.In addition to
his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dewey Daugherty Jr.;
a daughter, Brenda Greene; and by one grandson and one great-grandson.Mr.
Daugherty is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ola Mae Daugherty;
his son, Warren Jack Daugherty, of Wartburg; two daughters, Sharon Daugherty
of Wartburg and Gail Gill and husband, Darrell, of Lafayette, Ind.; three
stepdaughters, Carolyn Elmore and husband, Brad, of Wayne, Mich.,
Janice Lyles and husband, Rick, of Coalfield, and Loraine Brown and husband,
Garry, of Oliver Springs; and by 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister, Mildred Trail, of Harriman; a half brother,
Charles Purkey and wife, Violet, of Wartburg; two half sisters, Arvena
McGhee of Sevierville and Martha Ramey and husband, Gene, of Morristown;
and by several nieces and nephews.Jean and the late Cecil Parris, Frank
and Peggy Sexton, Joe Armes, Joe Gouge, several church friends, and a special

EDGAR JOHN - age 83, of Wartburg, passed away Saturday, September 1,
2001 at his home. He was born August 4, 1918, the son of Richard and Rosa
Dautel in Wartburg. He served in the European countries during WWII, receiving
the Bronze Star on April 26, 1945. He was a cannoneer with the "B" Battery
of the 208th Field Artillery Battalion, with the XV Corp. He was a former
employee of A.B. Long Quarries, Inc. and Martin Marietta Aggregates for
42 years. He retired June 18, 2001. He was a lifetime member of the
St. Paul Lutheran Church of Wartburg. He was preceded in death by his parents;
sister, Otillia Struck; daughter, Angela Marie Dautel. He is survived by
his wife, of 52 years, Janelle Kaufman Dautel; three sons, Jerry D. Dautelof
Elizabethton, Tenn. Edgar C. Dautel and wife, Casie, and M. Dwain Dautel

He was born Nov. 8, 1935 in Wartburg and was a life long resident. He was
a dairy farmer by day and a coon hunter by night. He was a wonderful father
and friend always. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Paul's
Lutheran Church. He was a board member of the Morgan Co. Farm Bureau and
a former board member of A.S.C.S. He was preceded in death by his father,

Mr. M. T. Davidson, who resides some three miles west
of Lancing on Clear Creek, died Tuesday after a week's illness. He was
one of the best known citizens of Morgan county and will be greatly missed.
He was the friend of all, and no one could go to him for a favor but what

DAVIDSON, MORGAN (M.T.), 63, Lancing, passed
way Jan 3, 2002 in his home in Lancing. He was born on Nov. 30, 1938.
He retired from Catepillar Tractor Company in Joliet, Ill., after 30 years
of service. He was instrumental in organizing a committee to do a
book on Morgan County. His efforts helped make "The Heritage of Morgan
County" a success. He was a member ot the Morgan County Genealogy
and Historical Society and was a Mason. He was preceded in death
by his parents Arthur and Effie Davidson. He is survived by his wife
Phyllis, of 42 years; son and daughter-in-law Craig and Karla Davidson
of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law Janet and Duane Carlson of Plainfield,
Ill.; two granddaughters, Morgan and Madison Carlson; brothers Wesley
of Deer Lodge, Stanley of Lancing and Johnny of Milner, Ga.; sister Beth

Lancing, TN formerly of Joliet, IL. Passed away unexpectedly August 22nd
2012 at her home. An active founding member and Primary Elder of the Bethel-Grace
Free Will Baptist Church. Phyllis held the positions of Secretary Treasurer
& Treasurer of The Ladies Auxiliary. Born October 10th 1941 in Terry,
MT to Albert Raihl & Pearl Mathisen Raihl, Phyllis grew up there until
the age of 10 when she moved to Lockport, IL. She graduated from
Lockport Township High School. She married Morgan (M.T.) Davidson on July
3rd, 1959. Besides being an NOAA Weather Data Acquisition Program Manager
from her home, Phyllis was also an Election Official for many years. She
was very active in the community. Phyllis loved to travel & had been
back to Montana several times to visit family & friends. She had also
traveled as far as Israel to visit the Holy Land & was planning a trip
this coming October to California. As an adventuresome person Phyllis has
enjoyed Skydiving, Outward Bound, backwater canoeing, whitewater rafting
on the Salmon River in Idaho and flying high over Deer Lodge & Lancing
on her son Craig's powered parachute. Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory,
son Craig (Karla) Davidson of Maryville, TN., Daughter Janet (Duane) Carlson
of Perrysburg, OH & granddaughters Morgan Taylor and

died May 29, 2003. He was born in Oakdale, Tenn. Mr. Davidson was a member
of the First Baptist Church, Goodlettsville. He retired from Dupont Corp.
after 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar
Davidson and Abbie Gilreath Davidson; one brother; and two sisters. Survivors

retired from Fisher Body Plant in Chicago, Illinois. He was a veteran of
the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict.

Pa., died in a traffic accident in Ohio, while en-route to Morgan County.

MR. WESLEY R. - age 69, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2002, at his
home, with his family, in Deer Lodge, Tenn. Wesley was born April 3, 1933,
in Lancing, Tenn. He later lived and worked in Harriman, Tenn., where he
was President of the Lions Club and the General Chairman of Harriman's
Diamond Jubilee Celebration in 1965. He moved to Knoxville, Tenn., in 1970,
where he lived for about 10 years. He later semi-retired and moved to Deer
Lodge, Tenn., in the early eighties, where he owned and operated the Davidson
Factory Outlet. He was also the publisher and editor of "The Poets Review"
and "The Inspirational Poet", two monthly national publications. He was
a Veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his first wife,

died Monday, May 1, 2006 in H.Q.M. Health Care in Nashville. Born Jan.

American Red Cross Volunteer, she also was a former Pink Lady with River

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva Lay and Edith Jackson Davis

Friday, July 23, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge. Enith was
the third of seven children born to Wolford and Arizona (Cooper) Hall.
In the early 1950s, Enith lived in northern Illinois but returned to Wartburg
in 1974. She retired from the Morgan County School System. She was an outstanding
and compassionate Mother with a big heart who loved and cared for her family
and friends. She was a church member of the Star of Hope Chapel, WartburgShe

DAVIS, MRS. ELSIE LOUISE DAUTEL, age 83, of Wartburg
, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 23, 2005 at the Methodist
Medical center of Oak Ridge. She was a life long and devoted member of
St. Paul's Lutheran church of Wartburg, a member of the Lutheran Women's
Missionary League; graduate of Knoxville Business College. She was an active
member of the Wartburg Senior Citizens Club and a member of the Society
of the Red Hat Club. Elsie was known as a hard worker all her life. During
her career she worked as a secretary for Morgan County Court Clerk Ralph
Davis, Wartburg Post Office, Schubert Motor Company, Morgan County Road
Superintendent Mitt Dyer, Ford Motor Company and after working at Union
Carbide (Y-12) for 19 years, she owned and operated Davis Meat and Slaughterhouse
until her retirement in 1989. At that time she continued her hard work
and passion for gardening by growing many flowers and vegetables. She was
very devoted to all her family and will be truly missed by all of those
who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Cordell
Davis, parents, Richard and Rosa Heidel Dautel, sisters, Anna Marie Heidel
and Otillia Strunk, brother, Edgar J. Dautel, nephew, Billy Gene Strunk.

Born December 8, 1923, went home to be with the Lord, Wed. August 29, 2001,
in the Life Care Center of Morgan County. He was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Wartburg, veteran of WWII, and retired from Martin Marietta,
and also retired from Morgan Co. Regional Prison. He was preceded in death
by parents, Evan and Florence Davis; daughter, Janet Davis Hughes; and
grandson, Peyton Evan Hughes. Surviving: wife, Eileen Basler Davis of Wartburg;
son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Stephanie Davis of Wartburg; granddaughter,

DAVIS, JAMES FARLEY, 94, Wartburg, formerly of
Sunbright, departed this life to live forever on June 25, 2002. He
professed his faith in our Lord Jesus and was a member of White Oak Baptist
Church in Sunbright. Farley was born Feb. 3, 1908 in Scott Co.
He operated his own radiator shop for many years in Sunbright and Helenwood.
He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Pearl
Mosier Davis; sons W.C. and Charles Smith; daughter Violet Gunter; grandson
Farley Wayne Smith; and great-grandson, Marcus Smith. He is survived
by daughter and caregiver, Mildred Henry; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren
and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Indiana, Expires; final Rites Wednesday Final rites for John Daniel Davis,
83, who died Monday at 7:30 AM at the St Joseph Hospital after a
long illness will be at 1:30 Wednesday at the Wolf Funeral home Walton,
Indiana. The Rev Dean Cornelius will officiate and burial will be in Buffalo,

Born in Pall Mall ,Tennessee November 30, 1868 he was the son of William
Riley Davis and Margaret Evans Davis Pyle. He married Ermine Stewart in
1894 who died in Jan 1929. Later he married Jenny Cheek Patton
who died in 1942. He was a member of the Walton Methodist Church. Survivors
are one son Roy of Lucerne, Indiana . Two sisters Mrs Lawrence Frogge of

J.L. served as a Navy Recon Medic during WWII. He reitred after 27
years of service as a Tennessee Highway Patrolman, where he was fondly

DAVIS, MR. KENNETH LEE, 83, of Deer Lodge, TN.,
went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 12, 2009, after a brief illness.
He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Wartburg. A WWII Navy Veteran
having served on the LST 451 in the Pacific, he and his wife owned and
operated a Farm and Home store in the Deer Lodge community for over forty
years. Once retired, he loved fishing and attending high school basketball
games. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Davis, mother Gladys
Weidemann Davis, father Edward Lee Davis, grandparents T. and Jenny Weidemann,
Charles and Dora Davis and one sister Bobbie Lee Nix of Murfreesboro, TN.
He is survived by four sons, Kenneth Lee, Jr. and his friend Richard Bossone
of New York, Dallas and Brenda Davis of Harriman, Allen Davis of Harriman,
and Bryant Davis of Deer Lodge. Grandchildren are Jennifer and fiancé
Jeremy Ridge, Andrew, Allyson, Elizabeth and Spencer T. Davis. Special
great- grandchildren are Dawson, Abbey, and Gracey Dagley, Charlee, Dillon

DAVIS, LULA PEARL, 90, of Sunbright died Tuesday
evening, July 3,1990, in the Harriman Hospital. She was a member
of the White Oak Missionary Baptist Church, Sunbright, and was preceded
in death by two sons, Charles H. Smith, Jr. and William C. Smith.
Surviving are her husband, Farley Davis, daughter, Mildred Henry, both

DAVIS, MARIE R., age 73, of Sunbright, wife of
late husband, Charles Davis, passed away in the presence of her children
at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of Fairview
Baptist Church of Deer Lodge. Her surviving seven children are, oldest,
Ronald J. Davis and wife, Kathy Davis, of Sunbright, Edwin C.Davis and
wife, Rebecca Davis, of Denver, N.C., Rose Marie Lee and husband, Bruce
Lee, of Pensacola, Fla., Charles W. Davis and wife, Diana Davis, of Oak

quilts and crocheting blankets for anyone who would want them. Marie will
be laid to rest next to her late husband, Charles Davis, at Missionary

DAVIS, MR. MARK A. "MOOSE", age 37, of Crossville,
formerly of the Frankfort community in Lancing, passed away Wednesday November
12, 2008 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. He was a member of
Grace Baptist Church in Crossville. Mark was a 1989 graduate of Central
High School in Wartburg. He was employed with the Tennessee Department
of Corrections and also worked as an auxiliary police officer with the
Cumberland County Sheriff's Department. Mark enjoyed wood working and spending
time in the outdoors, hunting and camping. He was preceded in death
by his grandparents: Rev. Clifford and Gladys Davis and J.L. and Annie

DAVIS, MRS. MILDRED SUMMERS - passed away Wednesday,
February 13, 2008 at her home in Wartburg. She passed away with her husband
and children by her side. Mildred battled with many health issues for several
years. Mildred was born in Pine Orchard, Tennessee to Fred and Lillian
Summers. She was a graduate of Oakdale High School. Mildred owned and operated,
along with her husband, Sam, Mildred's House of Fine Foods in Wartburg,
for 16 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wartburg,
where she was active in her Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death
by her parents, Fred and Lillian Summers; sisters, Margaret John Summers
Roberts and Jean Summers Nickley; and son, Bill Bert Davis. She is survived
by her husband, Sam; two sons, Phil Davis and John Davis and wife, Kelly
of Wartburg; daughter, Sarah Candeto and husband, Dan of Atlanta; grandchildren,
Mitch Davis of Atlanta, and Chris Davis of Wartburg; brother, Gordon Summers

DAVIS, ROY R. , Fulton, Indiana Man,
Dies, April 27 1960 ---65, a retired railroad worker, died unexpectedly
at 1:30 AM today at his home 2 1/2 miles west of Fulton, Indiana. Cause
of death was a heart attact. He had been ill health for 15 months. Mr Davis
had lived at his present residence since coming from Walton, Indiana in
1951. He retired from the Pennsylvania railroad Jan. 1, 1960 after 40 years
of service. He was a member of the Walton Methodist Chucrh. He was
born Feb 24 1895 in Fentress Co Tennessee to John Daniel and Ermine Stewart
Davis. His first marriage was to Nellie Gillan who died in 1920: his second
marriage was to Georgia Fisher, who died in 1936: his third marriage was
to Francelia Taylor, who survives. Surviving are the wife: four sons; Merle
L. Alexandria, Indiana, Richard D, Walton, Indiana. Wayne Ft. Gordon, GA
and Robert Roy Jr at home. Four daughters Mrs Raymond (Bessie)

DAVIS,
SAMUEL HENRY, 86, of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008,
in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge. Born March 8, 1922, in Coalfield,
he grew up in the Fork Mountain community of New River and continued
to live there until moving to Oliver Springs in 1978. A U.S. Army veteran
of World War II, he was in the 497th Armored Field Artillery Battalion
and received several decorations and medals, including two Bronze Stars.
His strongest characteristic was his dedication to his wife and family,
whom he often gave advice. His greatest interests included politics and
local government. He loved his community and served on the Oliver Springs
Board of Aldermen for 14 1/2 years. He was known for being conservative
and strongly considered the town and his district when he voted. He was
serving on the Oliver Springs 911 board at the time of his death.He was
a member of the Fork Mountain Baptist Church; however, he attended Kellytown
Baptist Church, Oliver Springs. He was also a 50-year member and past master
of Black Diamond Masonic Lodge 625, F&AM. He retired in 1988
after working 36 years at Y-12 Plant and K-25 Site, Oak Ridge.He was preceded
in death by his parents, T.V. Davis and Annwood Bertram Davis; daughter,
Sharon Hester; and brother-in-law, Ed Melhorn. Survivors include his wife,
Trula Justice Davis of Oliver Springs; son-in-law, Jerry Hester of the
Sugar Grove Valley community of Harriman; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law,
Jeanne and Mark Armstrong and Beth and Harlan Jackson, all of Sugar Grove
Valley; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Timothy Sam and Gerri Nelson

SAM J. - passed away on Friday, September 12, 2008 at Roane County
Hospital in Harriman, TN. He was unexpectedly admitted with pneumonia early
Wednesday which progressed rapidly and resulted in his death. Sam was born
in Wartburg to Reuben A. and Katie Davis on February 10, 1923. He was a
graduate of Central High School and Tennessee Tech University where he
received a B.S. in Political Science. He was a Veteran of both WWII and
Korea. Sam worked for Union Carbide for 31 years until his retirement in
1984. He and his wife later opened Mildred's House of Fine Food. He was
a member of the First Baptist Church. Sam was preceded in death by his
wife, Mildred and son Bill Bert; parents Reuben A. and Katie Davis; brother
John M. Davis. He is survived by two sons; Phil Davis and John Davis and
wife Kelly of Wartburg; daughter Sarah Davis, Candeto and husband Dan of

DAVIS, WILLIAM ELIJAH, 'LIGE', 93, of Coalfield,
died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Nov. 25, 1908, in Coalfield, the son of Henry H. and Matilda
Liles Davis. As a young man, Mr. Davis worked as a coal miner before beginning
employment with Union Carbide Nuclear Division. He later retired as manager
of the Cumberland Utility District. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church in Coalfield and had served as deacon, on the board of trustees,
treasurer and Sunday school teacher. Mr. Davis was a charter member and
the first president of the Coalfield Senior Citizens and a member of Black
Diamond Masonic Lodge, No. 625, F&AM. He is survived by his son, Darwin
Davis and his wife, Doralene, of Coalfield; his daughter, Glenda Fritts
and her husband, Tom, of Coalfield; five grandchildren, Dennis Davis and
his wife, Holly, of Kingston, Deidre Holt and her husband, Joel, of McMinnville,
Marty Fritts and his wife, Angie, of Lenoir City, and Justin Fritts and
Mandi Fritts, both of Coalfield; his great-grandchildren, Cameron Davis
Holt, Zachary Elijah Fritts and Emily Caroline Davis; and several nieces
and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in

DAWSON, LONNIE R., age 78, a resident of Coalfield,
died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Mr.
Dawson was born on the 13th day of September, 1931 in White Bluff, Tennessee.
He moved to East Tennessee at an early age and he has lived in Coalfield
since 1975. Lonnie retired in 1991 from Bell South as a cable splicer after
working for both Bell South and South Central Bell for 36 years. He was
a member of the Oliver Springs Church of Christ where he served the congregation
as an Elder. He was an avid bowler and he was inducted into the A.B.C.
Oak Ridge Bowling Hall of Fame. Additionally he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Lonnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather
who enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed cooking and
baking and especially baking cheesecakes which he often made for the enjoyment
of friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcom
Dawson and Nola Belle Binkley Dawson, by a brother, Donnie Lee Dawson,
and by brothers-in-law, Dewayne Hopkins and Joe Huggins. He is survived
by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Sisson Dawson of Coalfield, by a son, David

DENMAN, ALMA JOYCE, formerly of Lancing—Mrs. Alma
Joyce Denman of Smyrna, Tenn., died Friday at the Vanderbilt Hospital in
Nashville after a short illness. She was 31. Mrs. Denman was
the wife of Staff Sergeant Robert E. Denman, and the daughter of Rev. and
Mrs. J. E. Haynes of Lancing. She was born and reared in Lancing
and attended school there and in Wartburg. Sgt. And Mrs. Denman had
lived in Smyrna, where he is stationed with the U. S. Air Force, for the
past three months. For several years she lived in Arizona.
She was a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church. Besides her husband
and father she is survived by a son, Joe Allen and a daughter, Linda Joyce;
four brothers: Cluster A. Haynes of Petros, Everett Haynes of Pontiac,
Mich., Lawson Haynes of Mossy Grove and Dwight Haynes of Joliet, Ill.;

DILLON, MAURINE, was born
March 3, 1915 in Lancing, and passed away peacefully on May 25, 2007. She
was the last survivor of nine siblings, John, Otho, Alice, Maude, Mary,
May, Violet and Elsie. Her parents were Isabel and John Dillon. Maurine
was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Dr. George
Fraser.Mrs. Fraser is survived by her children, their spouses and grandchildren;

Larsen of Tucson, Az.; son, Dan Fraser, his wife Julie and their daughter,

DILLON, MRS. MILDRED - age
89, of Wartburg, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006. She was a graduate
of the University of Tennessee in 1955, with a BA degree and a MA degree.
Plus 45 hours on her Masters degree. She was also a member of the Delta
Kappa Gamma. She taught at a one room school at Elizabeth in Morgan County.
She taught 1st grade at Central Elementary. In 1952 began teaching English
at Central High School in Wartburg. In 1964, she became a counselor at
Central High. In 1971 she became a counselor at Roane State. In 1973, she
became director of Title I of Morgan County. She retired in September of
1981. She was also the pianist and organist of the First Baptist Church,
Wartburg from 1947- present. She was preceded in death by her husband,
John R. Dillon; Daughter, Jane Dillon Phillips; parents: James Edgar and
Blanche Johnston Hart; Brother, Alvin Hart; and sister, Jane Hart Basler.
She is survived by her children: John R. Dillon Jr. of Wartburg and Nancy
Dillon Cross of Nashville; grandchildren: Jeffery David Phillips of Oak
Ridge, John Phillips of Cordova, Tn, and True Cross Tat of Los Angeles,

cancer, Susan passed away in the comfort of her home on the beautiful morning

passing was both peaceful and graceful. Susan was the daughter of Doyle

strength, unconditional faith, and strong will helped her through many

died at 11:09 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, in Swedish American Hospital.
Born: Feb. 7, 1918, in Oakdale, TN, daughter of Milton J. and Eva Johnson
Walker. Rockford resident for 50 years, coming here from TN.
Married: Eugene Dunaway on Jan. 11, 1952, in Georgia. She retired
from OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Feb. 1991. Helen was baptized
into the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Feb. 7, 1948. Survivours

of Rockford., Dwight (Kathy)Dunaway of Roswell, NM, Sherry (Jim) Kolthoff

DUNAWAY,
JAMES V. (SHORTY) , 74, of Xenia Ohio, died Aug. 14, 1998. He
was born March 26, 1924 in Sunbright, the son of Joseph and Dora Mae Kesterson
Dunaway. He was a Navy veteran of WW II where he served in the South Pacific;
he had belonged to the Civilian Conservation Corp. He was a founder
of the Spring Valley Christian Baptist Church of God, where he had served
as the Sunday School Superintendent, the head trustee, and the treasurer.
In 1986, he retired from Dayton Reliable Tool after 20 years of employment.
Some of his other accomplishments include having authored five books, written
several songs and published many poems, one of which is listed in the Library
of Congress. Preceded by parents, three sisters, and
two brothers. Survivors: wife, Rev. Lois Daniels Dunaway who
he married, Nov. 30, 1946.; children, David Lee Dunaway and Linda Gail
Dunaway; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, William

DUNCAN, DICEY PATTERSON, age 89, a resident of
Oliver Springs, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 02, 2009,
at Briarcliff Health Care Center in Oak Ridge. Dicey was born June 17,
1919 in Anderson County. She was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs.
Duncan was a compassionate, loving person who always put others first.
Although she has no children she cared for many children and considered
each of them her own. She was a devout Christian who studied the scriptures
and put God first in her life. She was a member of the Corbin Hill Baptist
Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ruley Duncan, by
her parents, Eagie Patterson and Lou Phillips Patterson, by brothers, Buster
and Henion Patterson, and by sisters, Laney Duncan and Lassie Patterson.Mrs.
Duncan is survived by three sisters; Earslee Patterson and Clonie Duncan
of Oliver Springs, and Chestine Carden of Alabama, by a sister in Law,
Ruth Patterson of Oliver Springs, by several nieces and nephews and a host
of special friends and extended family members. The family will receive
friends Monday, May 4, 2009, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm at Sharp

DUNCAN, JIMMY CLARENCE, 67, of the Marlow community
in Anderson County, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005 at his home. Born
Jan. 1, 1938, in Petros, he had lived in the surrounding area all of his
life. He was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and was produce
manager at Food City, Oliver Springs. He had worked for Food City, formerly
White Stores, for more than 49 years. He is preceded in death by parents,

DUNCAN, LAVERNE WOODS, 82, of Oliver Springs,
died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge. Born
March 12, 1926, in Coalfield, she was a lifelong resident of the area.
She was a faithful Christian and a member of Oliver Springs First Baptist
Church. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister,
she was an excellent cook and seamstress who made many beautiful crafts,
many of which are displayed in the homes of family and friends. Her husband,
an avid fisherman, refers to her as “the best catch of my life.” She was
preceded in death by parents, Elijah and Mamie Russell Woods; brother,

She was a former Sunday School teacher, choir member, and worked on various
committees. She was an active member of the Petros Senior Citizens group

Wedding Anniversary. She was also preceded in death by her parents: Bill

Born Feb. 12, 1918, in Coalfield, she was the daughter of William Jackson
and Mary Lou Etta McGlothin Jackson, both now deceased. She lived in Oliver
Springs for 65 years and was a member of Oliver Springs United Methodist
Church. She was a homemaker and the widow of John Hayes Duncan. Her family
said she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Mrs. Duncan is survived
by her daughter, Carol Qualls and her husband, Doug, of Oliver Springs;
her son, Norman Duncan and his wife, Diana, of Johnson City; a grandson,
Chris Duncan and his wife, Kristy, who made their home with her; three
granddaughters, Amanda Duncan, Audrey Duncan and Amber Duncan; and a great-grandson,

away Friday, Dec. 21, 2001 in the Life Care Center in Morgan County.
Born in Morgan County Sept. 13, 1916, she was the daughter of the late
Willie "Fred" Cordell Neely and Edith McCartt Neely. She was a member
ot the First United Methodist Church in Oneida and retired as an LPN from
the Scott County Hospital in 1978. In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Stevens and Roy Durham; one
infant child; four brothers, B. J., Frank A., William C. and James M. Neely
and one special aunt, Juanita Williams. She is survived by two sisters,
Lucy Freels and husband Kenneth of Glenmary and Ruth Fullbright and husband
Lavone of Sunbright; one special aunt, Venna Smith of Wartburg; and many
nieces, nephew and other relatives and friends. Funeral services
were conducted, Sunday Dec. 23 at 8 p. m. in the chapel of Jones &

DYDEN, WILLIAM ALVIN, 62, of Dyden Loop, Crossville,
passed away Jan. 9, 2002, in St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Funeral
services were held Jan. 12 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home with
burial in Rinnie Cemetery, Bro. Grover Atkinson officiating and special
music by Marsha Polson and Janet Brady. He was born Feb. 18, 1939 in Cumberland
County, the son of Arvine and Alice Hamby Dyden. He is survived by cousins
Judy Arms and Carolyn Griffis of Waverly, Ronnie Dyden of Wartburg, and
Oma Hamby of Crossville; and sister Mattie Dyden of Crossville. Pallbearers
were Gradis Harville, Enios Sharp, David Garrett, Ronnie Sisco, Bill Buck
and Robbie Buck. Bilbrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

DYER, BARRY EUGENE, of Wartburg
died tragically in a car accident on May 1, 1990. He is the son of Billy
and Betty Dyer of Wartburg, birth mother Nancy E Knof of Dunedin, Florida,
brothers, Jeff, Chuck, Jason, Donnie, sisters Missy and Susan. He is also
survived by loving wife Michelle and daughter, Allison and stepson Danny

BERNARD - age 68 of Wartburg, passed away June 2, 2000. He attended
UT majoring in electrical engineering and was employed by the Morgan County
Schools for nineteen years as a vocational instructor. He also served four
years in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Mitt & Elsie Dyer; daughter, Patricia Ann Milliken; sister,
Reba; brothers, Elec and Bill Dyer. He is survived
by his wife of 41 years, Mary Maden Dyer; daughters, Pamela and husband,

away Sunday, April 6, 2003 in the Scott County Hospital, following an automobile
