D. 1836<br \/>\nPersonally appeared before me, John C. McEwen, a justice of County Court of<br \/>\nMorgan County,<br \/>\nRACHEAL STEWART, a resident of and in the county of Morgan and State of<br \/>\nTennessee, aged seventy-seven years, who being first duly sworn according<br \/>\nto law doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to attain<br \/>\nthe benefit of the Act of Congress passed June 4, 1836.<\/p>\n<p>That she is the widow of JAMES STEWART, deceased, who was a private malitia<br \/>\nsoldier in the<br \/>\nRevolutionary War, that said JAMES STEWART, resided in Franklin County<br \/>\nState of Virginia in 1782 and was drafted for a six month tour of duty, the<br \/>\nmonth or particular day not now recollected, as applicant has not any<br \/>\nrecord of the day or month but she ___(?) recollects that it was at or<br \/>\nafter the breaking up of the &#8212;-(?winter?)\u00a0 Said JAMES STEWART entered the<br \/>\nservice of the United States as a private malitia soldier under his<br \/>\naforesaid draft and served his full six months tour.\u00a0 Applicant does not<br \/>\nnow recollect the names of his officers as she has no record documenting<br \/>\ntime of his service and it has been many years since she heard her<br \/>\nsaid\u00a0 &#8230;(?husband?)\u00a0 and speak of his officers names and as applicant&#8217;s<br \/>\nmemory from old age and bodily infirmity consequent &#8230;(thereon?) has<br \/>\n___(?) failed her and the reason why she recollects<br \/>\nthe dates of the year in which her husband was drafted and served is<br \/>\nbecause while he was in the service above stated she bore a child and had<br \/>\nrecord made of its birth which bears date the<br \/>\n4 of July 1782.\u00a0 Applicant further recollects that her said husband was<br \/>\nmarched from Franklin<br \/>\nCounty down the country and was stationed at Old Jamestown in the State of<br \/>\nVirginia, was never in any battle and that he was then discharged in the<br \/>\nlast of August or first of September and that he served his full six<br \/>\nmonths.
