Born in\u00a0 Morgan County on Sept. 8, 1873, of English-Scotch-Irish descent.\u00a0 His parents were Milton T. and Cordelia T. Kesterson.\u00a0 His paternal grandparents were Lindsay and ( ) Brock.\u00a0 His maternal grandparents were James and Elizabeth Walker Kesterson.\u00a0 Educated in the public schools of Morgan County.\u00a0 Member of the Baptist Church; Mason; K.P.;\u00a0 Republican.\u00a0 Mr. Brock was elected Sheriff in August, 1936 over his\u00a0 oponent by an overwhelming majority.\u00a0 Previous to this he had served\u00a0 as Deputy Sheriff for five years.\u00a0 Prior to that he was in the lumber\u00a0 business for several years, was Postmaster at<br \/>\nPilot Mountain for twenty\u00a0 years, and was store manager for a lumber company.\u00a0 His long public\u00a0 career has earned for him a reputation of dependability.\u00a0 His\u00a0 overwhelming vote on his election as sheriff is evidence of the\u00a0 high esteem in which he is held by the citizens of his county. Mr. Brock\u00a0 is the father of ten children:\u00a0 Mrs. Delta Mae Smith; Virgil Brock; Mrs.\u00a0 Mabel Emerson; Otto Brock; Mrs. Bertie Anderson; Ava Brock; Carl T. Brock;\u00a0 Edward Brock; Hazel; William Riley, Jr.\u00a0 Mr. Brock has eleven\u00a0 grandchildren.\u00a0 He says that his hobby is &#8220;making friends&#8221;.\u00a0 His\u00a0 grandfather<br \/>\nKesterson and his father fought with the Federal forces\u00a0\u00a0 during the Civil War.\u00a0 He was first married to Malissa M.
