She was born\u00a0December 24, 1867 in Oakdale, Morgan County, Tennessee.<br \/>\nHer parents moved the family to Washington Territory in the late 1880&#8217;s.\u00a0She married Walter Toy, b January 1, 1863, in Lewis County, Washington.\u00a0They were married November 12, 1889, one day after statehood for the Washington Territory.<\/p>\n<p>This picture was taken in 1889.<\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<div align=\"center\"><b>OBITUARY FOR SARAH EMMALINE SNOW TOY<\/b><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/div>\n<p><b>MRS. WALTER TOY CALLED BEYOND<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Death Occasioned Sunday by Peritonitis<br \/>\nFollowing Operation at\u00a0Hospital in Seattle<\/p>\n<p>The entire community was shocked and grieved over the death of Mrs. Sarah E.\u00a0Toy, one of the oldest residents, whose kindness and patience made her beloved\u00a0by all. Death was occasioned by peritonitis, which set in following an\u00a0operation for gallstones. Her death closely followed a hopeful announcement of the\u00a0doctors who said she was well on the road to recovery. Peritonitis set in and<br \/>\ndeath occurred Sunday at Seattle. The remains were brought to Winlock the\u00a0following day.\u00a0Sarah Emmaline Toy was born December 24, 1867 at Oakdale, Tennessee and came\u00a0to Winlock with her parents May 13, 1888 and settled on a homestead near\u00a0Anslie. At the age of 22 years she married Walter Toy of Chehalis and to this union\u00a0nine children were born, eight of whom survive her.\u00a0Beside her husband she leaves to mourn her departure from this earth five\u00a0sons and three daughters. They are: Mrs. J. D. Custer, Mrs. F.W. Steinhart, Mrs.\u00a0Robert O&#8217;Ban of Tacoma, Joseph Toy, Charles Toy, James Toy and Walter Toy Jr.,<br \/>\nher mother, Mrs. Joseph Snow of Blaine, a sister Mrs. W. R. Allen also of\u00a0Blaine, and four brothers, James Snow of Hoquiam, Thomas Snow of Blaine, John\u00a0Snow of Tacoma and Rufus Snow of Winlock.<br \/>\nMrs. Toy united with the Baptist church at the age of 16 and was baptized in\u00a0the Emory River in Tennessee. She was a member of the Women of Woodcraft for\u00a025 years and that organization turned out enmasse at the funeral to pay their\u00a0respects.<br \/>\nFuneral services were held at the Baptist church Wednesday afternoon with\u00a0Reverend Simmons of Kelso officiating. A large concourse of sorrowing friends\u00a0followed the casket to its last resting place in the Winlock cemetery. Laymance, b 1826 and Katherine Lightning. She was born in Oakdale, Morgan County Tennessee November 4, 1848.
