{"id":2161,"date":"2014-05-21T15:08:17","date_gmt":"2014-05-21T20:08:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/morgantn\/?p=2161"},"modified":"2017-06-20T22:14:21","modified_gmt":"2017-06-21T03:14:21","slug":"jones-family-reunions-2002-2003-2004","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/morgan\/jones-family-reunions-2002-2003-2004\/","title":{"rendered":"Jones Family Reunions, 2002, 2003, 2004"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><em>JONES FAMILY GATHERING &#8211; 2004<br \/>\n* * *<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/morganco\/photoalbum\/JonesReunion2004.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"399\" \/><\/strong><strong>Jones Family Gathering 2004<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Jones Family Gathering was held on\u00a0October 10, 2004, at the\u00a0Sunbright\u00a0Community Center.\u00a0\u00a0Over 50 people were in attendance and there were 6 states represented.<\/p>\n<p>We welcomed new family members from other branches of the Shadrack and Mary Ann Davis- Jones tree.\u00a0\u00a0Descendants were not only from Jeremiah and Louisa Stonecipher-Jones, but also included those descended from Samuel and Mary \u201cPolly\u201d Guffey-Jones and John Jackson and Elizabeth Jones.<\/p>\n<p>During the time of gathering, a booklet of compiled newspaper clippings about various family members was enjoyed and used as a topic of discussion to become acquainted with and renew ties with each other.\u00a0\u00a0The potluck meal was both delicious and plentiful, with desserts to satisfy any sweet tooth preference.<\/p>\n<p>Following the meal, introductions were made in relationship to who they were descended from.\u00a0\u00a0We also had the opportunity to learn more about our other related surnames of Scottish descent, complete with a demonstration of traditional attire given by A. Joseph Guffey.<\/p>\n<p>Before everyone left, we were able to capture the memory in a traditional group photograph.\u00a0\u00a0We look forward to next year\u2019s gathering and would encourage other family members descended from this tree to join us:\u00a0\u00a0Creesy Jones, b. 1821; oldest father \u2013 Fred Pierce; youngest mother \u2013 Tabatha Robbins-Sims; youngest father \u2013 Jim Jones; one traveling the farthest \u2013 Joe and Judi Guffey; and the one who could name all 13 of Jeremiah and Louisa\u2019s children \u2013 or at least as many as they could \u2013 Cindy Smith-Boyer with runner-up, Pat Pierce-Goss.\u00a0 Prizes were bottles of Jones Soda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">We look forward to our next Gathering.\u00a0 Plans are to include those descendants not only of Jeremiah and Louisa Stonecipher Jones, but also those of Jeremiah\u2019s siblings which include:\u00a0 Creesy Jones, b. 1821, NC; Elizabeth Jones, b. 1823, TN; Samuel Jones, mrd. He set up on the front porch of the inn and was a welcoming sound to those as they arrived.\u00a0 The chair he sat in to play was made by Perry O. Jones, a grandson of Jeremiah and Louisa, about 1937 for John S.
