Billie Watson

Billie joined the US Navy July 5, 1943, entered into active service in Chattanooga July 12,1943. He was stationed on the AD 16 USS Cascade Destroyer Tender serving in the Pacific during World War 11 for two years working as a crane operator. The Cascade was used as a supply ship serving the battle ships during the war. They mainly traveled to the Marshall Island, the Carolinas and Okinawa & occasionally Hawaii. He also served on the USS Tryon & the USS John Land.
He got an Honorable Discharge in Memphis, Tennessee March 11, 1946.

WATSON, MR. BILLIE, age 81 of Oakdale, passed away October 20, 2006 at the Life Care Center of Morgan. He was ordained as a deacon of Rankins Chapel Church in 1963. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lela Clark Watson; parents; William Houston and Blanche Coffman Watson; brother, Alvin Watson and sister, Vannie Underwood. He is survived by his son, David and Gail Watson of Oakdale; daughters; Brenda and Tommy Clark of Spring City and Arlene and Gary Smith of Oakdale, Grandchildren; Michelle Clark of Harriman, Tony and Annette Clark of Soddy Daisy, Felicia and Bruce Bagwell of Rockwood, Jeremy Smith of the U.S. Air Force and Serena and Larry Peters of Oakdale. Five great grandchildren. Sisters; Mona Powell, Irene Helton, Dot Summers, Gladys Dalton and June Horton; special friend Rita Summers along with various family and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 21, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Schubert
Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 22 at 3:30 p.m. at Rankins Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Kerry Ruppe officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
