McCARTT CEMETERY – GREASY CREEK
Location: N of Wartburg, off Hwy 27, turn right onto Gobey Rd and proceed app. 4 miles. Turn left across Emory River, then bear right along the river, crossing Creasy Creek, a total of 3 miles to Nola Hamby’s. The cemetery is located on the left across the road from Mrs. Hamby’s, app. .1 mile into the woods. Mrs. Preston McCartt’s grave in supposedly covered with a large flat stone, now almost hidden by years of neglect. He supposedly hewed the stone himself. There are 3 u/m graves.
