Edna Hamby Goodman – Celebrated 100th Birthday on Sept. 9, 2013

“Granny” was born to Lewis Edward and Mahala Stringfield Hamby on Sept 9, 1913.Mother of nine, grandmother of 15, great and great-great grandmother a host of others! She is a sister to four brothers, George, Balford, Albert and Mack, one sister, Velia.  She married Lonnie Goodman on June 28, 1930. They were married for 58 years. Their 9 children: Maxie Barnes, Juanita “Bessie” McLain-deceased,Raymond Goodman-deceased, Josie Goodman-deceased, Charlotte Fritts, Willy Goodman-deceased, Margaret Teague-deceased and Sandra Aslinger.

Mrs. Edna Goodman passed away on May 9, 2014. She was blessed to be 100 years old. [She was born Sept 9, 1913]  Edna was born on September 9, 1913, to Lewis and Mahalia (Stringfield) Hamby. She was married to Lonnie Goodman on June 28, 1930. During their 58 year marriage, they had nine children, 15 grandchildren, and a host of great-and great-great grandchildren.
“Granny” was an expert cook of Southern Cuisine and an accomplished quilter. She was a long-time member of Pilot Mountain Missionary Baptist Church. Her greatest joys in life were her worship with God, and fellowship with her family.
She is survived by daughter Maxine Barnes of Lancing; Charlotte Fritts of Ten Mile; Sandra Aslinger of Wartburg.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 4-6 pm Schubert Funeral Home Wartburg. Funeral Services will follow at 6 pm with Bro. Charles Webb and Bro. Billy Goodman officiating, interment will follow in the Lane Cemetery, Lancing. [Schubert Funeral Home]
