Opal Regenia York Brooks celebrated her 104th birthday. She was born May 4, 1908 to Annie & George York in Rose, Morgan County, TN. Her father was a school teacher, farmer and store keeper and her mother was local post master and mother of six. Opal graduated from A.B. Wright Institute high school in 1928. She had already experienced working in Ohio before graduation and returned there after school.
She married Ted (S.M.) Brooks on February 16, 1930. There were three children born to this union, Jim, Betty (Wright) and Ella Dean (Pittman). The family was involved in grocery stores (47 years), Brooks Golf and Country Club and farming at Pine Haven. {From the Morgan County News dated May 9, 2012}
