Be it remembered that on this fifth day of November in the year of our lord Eighteen hundred and thirty-nine before Charles W. Crawford notary public in and for the Parish of east Baton Rouge in the state of Louisianna, came and appeared Mrs. Catharain Edmonston Thomas, wife of Henry Thomas of the Parish of East Baton Rouge here present authorizing his said wife fin the execution of these presents (of those present?) who declare that she has made, constituted and appointed and by these presents dose make, constitute, and appoint William Edmonston her brother of the Parish of East Baton Rouge her true, lawful, and special attorney for her and in her name to sell and transfer a tract of land situated in Montgomery County in the State of Tennessee being all the interest, share and title in and to the said title land containing one hundred acres more of less together with all the improvements thereon to sell the same at the price which may be judged expedient and to receive all monies which may be paid for the same and to agree and conform (?) to for the same and to use all lawfull means for the recovery (?) thereof and sufficient receipts & discharges in her name to seal and deliver, and finally to do all other lawfull acts in the primises (?) fully in every respect as she could do if personally present ratifying and confirming whatever her said attorney shall in her name lawfully do or cause to be done in and about the premises (?) by virtue of the these presents. 

 

In testimony whereof the said constituent being assisted by her said husband here present & undersigned has herewith signed her name in the presence of Leroy C. Morris & Edmond Bartlett, witnessed together with the parties & me notary, the word "Edmonston" interlined & approved before signing Mrs. Thomas being unable to writte made her ordinary mark.
