MONTGOMERY COUNTY TENNESSEE
WAR RECORDS
Thomas McCabe, Sr.
CIVIL WAR SOLDIER
Thomas McCabe
Sr.(Thomas Jr,'s father) was a Civil War veteran and was in the 10th
Tennessee Infantry Company A--C.S.A. He was wounded in battle. He came
to America from Ireland, saved his money, and after the war brought his
family to Tennessee. He was Born on July 3, 1819 in Galway, Ireland and
died in Clarksville, Tenn. on March 11th, 1904. His wife Margaret
(Connelly) McCabe, was also born in Galway, Ireland. They were married
in County Kildare, Ireland. They both lived their lives as farmers in
Montgomery county,Tenn. She died in 1910, and both Thomas McCabe Sr.
and his wife Margaret are buried in Greenwood cemetery Section # 9 in
Clarksville.
Interesting that the marriage certificate I have of their child (Thomas
McCabe Jr./Marianne McCabe) in my possession, is in Latin, the official
language of the Catholic church at that time. The priest who married
them was Father P.J. Gleeson. I had it translated into English.
PS- I have photocopies of most of the above mentioned people too--
circa 1880's..
My connection to the above is that my maternal grandmother--Mary Anne
McCabe (1883-1953) married Charles Kearney Hall Sr (1874-1949) my
grandfather, in February, 1905. They in turn had my father Charles
Kearney Hall Jr. (1921-1973) and I was born June 27th,1943.
