Nathaniel Davis Powell joined the Civil War at the age of fifty. With his three oldest sons, William, James, and Albert. They all died in the war except William.

Joined Dec. 3, 1861 at Palmyra TN. (age 50)

Captured Feb. 16, 1862 at Fort Donelson

Sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago, Ill.

Admitted to the prison hospital on March 5, 1862 and died the next day.

Buried at Oakwood Cemetery.
