James W. Powell born 1834. Son of Nathaniel Davis Powell and Susannah Powell.

Captured at Fort Donelson on Feb. 16, 1862

Sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago.

He was sent to Vicksburg to be traded. His battalion reorganized and fought at the Battle of Franklin. He was wounded, shot in the hip and died of his wounds on April 21, 1862 after being sent home.
