Joseph Williams (1790-1869)
War of 1812 Soldier
 
Joseph fought in the War of 1812.  Joseph formed a company in the First Tennessee Militia, Dyer's Regiment.  He was a captain under Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans, and also served in the Florida War, holding the same rank.  A list of company members when they mustered in is in "The Primal Families of the Yellow Creek Valley", William J. Nesbit, 1985. 
 
Joseph is listed as a Captain in Dyer's Regiment in Tennesseans in the War of 1812, Sistler, 1992
 
Joseph was born in North Carolina and lived in Montgomery County until the 1850’s.   With two of his children, he emigrated to another Clarksville, in Red River County, Texas.
