HOWARD WHITE JOHNSON
WORLD WAR II SOLDIER
Howard White Johnson was
born ca 1916 in Murfreesboro, TN. His father died about 1926 and his
mother,
Mrs. Emma Johnson took young Howard to Clarksville, Tn and placed him
in the I.O.O.F orphange in New Providence. He graduated from
Clarksville High and went to college at the Univ. of Georgia. He
excelled in football and after
he graduated, he played professional football for the Green Bay Packers
in 1937, 1938, and 1939. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps and rose to
rank of Captain. He was killed in action 19 Feb 1945 at Iwo Jima. He
was married to
Miss Marie Jackson and had one daughter Jenny Lynne Johnson.
