First Lieutenant Charles F. Pickering of the Dental Reserve Corps reported for active duty at Camp Gettysburg on the grounds of the Gettysburg National Park in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on June 30, 1917. He served primarily in Limoges, France, as a member of Base Hospital 13, which was headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. On March 28, 1919, Captain Charles F. Pickering was honorably discharged from the United States Army from Camp Merritt, New Jersey.
