MONTGOMERY COUNTY WAR RECORDS
"Benjamin Herring. Age 70 years. Born in North Carolina on 9 May 1790. Died 14 October 1860, of heart disease, in Montgomery County, Tennessee. Served in the War of 1812 at the battle of New Orleans. Married Miss Rachel Neville Whitfield, daughter of Bryant Whitfield; they were the parents of eight children."
