Willam Slayden, 88 a farmer who lived at 1052 Seven Mile Ferry Road, died Wednesday at Veterans Hospital in Nashville following an extended illness. Services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday at First Baptist Church on Vine Street with the Rev. Will Pettus officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemtery in Round Pond.
Born on March 22, 1893, in Montgomery County, he was a World War I veteran and a member of First Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Lee and Nora Skelton Slayden.
Survivors are his widow, Agnes Parrish Slayden, Clarksville; three sons,
Willie Clay Slayden and Marshall Slayden, both of Clarksville, and Walter
Lee Slayden, Frankfort, Ky. ; a daughter, Lorene Johnson, Frankfort; a
sister, Venessa Collins, Hampton Station; and six grandchildren and
three great-granchildren. Pallbearers will be Finis Skelton and deacons
of First Baptist Church.
