Emma Edwards Slayden, 91, of 2622 Ashwood Ave., Nashville, died Monday at her residence following a long illness. Services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at McReynolds Nave Chapel by the Rev. Lloyd Ashby and the Rev. David ,I McGregor. Burial will be in Guerin Cemetery.
Mrs. Slayden was born Jan. 17, 1889 in Montgomery County, daughter of the late Joseph T. Edwards and Elizabeth Bryant Edwards. Her husband, Preston R. Slayden, preceded her in death. She was a member of Gum Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors are two sons, Jesse Slayden and Wade Slayden,
both of Nashville; a sister, Maria Hunter, Vanleer, and nine grandchildren,
20 great-grandchildren, and six greatgreat-grandchildren. Pallbearers
will be Jesse Slayden Jr., Preston Slayden, David Slayden, Wesley Slayden,
Larry Slayden and Tommy Slayden.
