SHOWER COMPLIMENTS MISS CUNNINGHAM
The Home Markers Club of Ringgold community complimented Miss Chloe Cunningham, popular bride-elect of this month. Tuesday afternoon with a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mrs. J. R. Foster.
The rooms were beautifully decorated for the occasion with garden flowers
Mrs. Ed Dabney gave the following presentation poem prior to the showering of the honoree with the lovely gifts from a Japanese parasol:
“To one we have known since her childhood.
Whose winsome and sunshiny ways,
Have endeared her to those who have
Known her
As she sang or recited her lays.
Her talents are varied and many,
In parlor or kitchen or camp,
And I fear the designs in her wardrobe
Will feature our Chloe as a vamp.
For each garment is simply bewitching,
Enough to drive one insane
And would if the list kep increasing,
But I hear it is now on the “Whayne.”
So we leave her to moonlight and madness
And the gay world she ventures within,
And wait at the church for her coming
When Chloe shall become “Mrs. Quin.”
The hostess served a delicious ice course to the guest numbering about thirty. Those from our-of-town were: Miss Mary Flournoy, of Columbus Ga.; Miss Natalie deGoltan, of Atlanta, Ga. and Miss Josephine Shaw of Asheboro, N. C.
