Randy was born in Topeka, Kansas 29 Dec 1948. His father was an officer in the Army Air Corps and born and raised here in Clarksville, TN. When WWII started his father enlisted and joined the air corp. After graduation he was sent to Forbes Army Air Field at Topeka, KS where he met and married Randy's mother. While in Topeka, KS the Rubel's raised three children.  Randy's two older brothers Tom and Bil and Randyl.  After the war was over, Mr. Rubel stayed in the military and traveled all over the United States spending four years in Japan. Randy's father retired in 1962 with 30 years service and we returned to his hometown of Clarksville, TN.  In 1967 Randy graduated from Clarksville High School and right off went into college. While a senior at Austin Peay State University in 1969,  they held the lottery draft and Randy's number was the fourth called and so he began a short army career. In Feb. 1973, Randy began working for the Clarksville Fire Department where he enjoyed not only being a fireman for 30 years but being able to compile a history of the CFD from 1830 to the present. Randy was instrumental in putting together the wonderful display of artifacts on the history of the Clarksville Fire Department which is on exhibit at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Museum. Randy's field of history is not limited, as he has talked to many hundreds of school children and adults on the topic of Tennessee Indians to the War Between the States. Presently, he is President of one of the largest reenactment organizations in this area, Company A, 50th Tennessee Infantry Company. This Company has traveled all over the United States for civil war reenactments, and many members of our organization have been in  movies and historical videos. Randy has severed as President of the Montgomery County Historical Society, Historian and past Commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #225 in Clarksville.

Today, Randy still lives in Clarksville and is the proud father of two daughters and a very proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren- four girls and two boys.

Randy, like many of us, has a  love of history and believes it  is very important to preserve and record our past.   We on  the Montgomery County Web Pages are very fortunate that Randy Rubel has allowed us to publish his genealogical research to help others seeking information on Montgomery County Families.   We would also like to thank Sandra Stacey for scanning this material so that we can share with you.
