While researching my great grandfather,
William J. Rowland, I visited the Ragen cemetery. It is located off the
highway 149 south of Palmyra going towards Cumberland City. It is
north of 149 off Ragen Road onCemetery the right, about 1/2 mile before
you get to the Tarsus/Methodist Church. About 500 yards off 149 at the
2nd driveway on the left. Turn into this driveway for about 200
yards and the cemetery is on the right in a small fenced enclosure. (it
was overgrown with small saplings.) The stone for William J. Rowland is
there (B. July 05, 1838 D. Sept. 25, 1890). His wife Virginia, is
buried at the Rowland Cemetary off Bailey Cobb Road. Also buried at the
Ragen Cemetery is Pheby E Oliver, wife of N. Oliver, B. July 19, 1838,
D. March 5, 1896. This research was done about 8 years ago.
The gentleman who owns the farm on which the Rowland cemetery is
,located also has the Parker Cemetery on his property.
Margaret R.Taylor, B. April 21, 1811, mother of Virginia (Taylor)
Rowland) is buried there. The farmer was at that time, Earl Sanders,
2760 Plamyra Road. Palmyra, TN. 3742.
