1. Macajah Clark came to C'ville in 1855 to get a piece of the tobacco-market pie.

2. A son of Richmond physician, Dr., Macajah Clark, OUR Macajah during the Civil War, became Jefferson Davis’ confidential clerk and last acting treasurer of the Confederacy.

3. Pres. Jefferson Davis visited the Clark home on Madison directly across from Madison Street Methodist TWICE after the war. One of these times the Clarks hosted a large reception for him.
Macajah owned several personal momentos of Pres. Davis including a pair of jeans which Davis wore during the evacuation of Richmond. Macajah presented them back to the Davis family at Pres. Davis’ funeral.

Macajah is NOT buried here in the Kerr family lot, but his son MORRIS is. At first Elizabeth Kerr Clark, Macajah’s wife was interred here, but was later moved to the Clark plot in Richmond where her husband, Macajah lies.
