James Ewing Wyatt

James E. Wyatt, 74, died Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.  He was a retired mill foreman, having retired in 1971 after 42 years of service.  He was a resident of 1288 Hillwood Dr.  Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tarpley’s Chapel by the Rev. Riley James.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  Mr. Wyatt was born in Stewart County Dec. 21, 1904, but had lived in Montgomery County since 1929.  He was the son of the late Isaac Henry Wyatt and Melissa Darr Wyatt.  He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.  Survivors are his widow, Mary Bagwell Wyatt; two sons, Powell Wyatt, Clarksville; and Paul Wyatt, Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Carlene Midgley, El Paso, Texas; and 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  Pallbearers will be Thomas Elliott, Claude Harrison, Earl Harrison, Wyatt Powell, Angis Harrison, Earl Butts, Buford Elliott, and Wilton Wyatt.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Thomas Elliott Sunday School Class of the First Church of the Nazarene.

(Note:  James Ewing Wyatt was a grandson Winnie Alice Smith and Mitchell James Wyatt, one of the Wyatt twins raised by Rachel Atkins and Charles Roper in Stewart Co., TN.  He was a great grandson of Bazel and Martha Hood Smith.)
