Ella Milbry Wilson Legate

Ella Milbry Legate, 86, Indian Mound, died Thursday after an extended illness at the home of a daughter, Nancy Byrd, Route 2, Indian Mound.  The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Anglin Memorial Chapel, Dover, with Clifford Dobbs officiating.  Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Indian Mound.  Mrs. Legate was born in Stewart County on May 19, 1898, the daughter of George Wilson and Martha Atkins Wilson.  She was the widow of Horace W. Legate, who died in 1966.  Survivors include two sons, Owen Legate and Weston H. Legate, Nashville; three daughters, Nancy Byrd and Peggy Legate, Indian Mound, and Ruth Foster, Nashville; two sisters, Sophia Wilson and Lettye Wilson, Dover; and eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

(Note:  Ella Milbry Wilson Legate was named after her great grandmother, Milberry Josephine Thomason who married Richard S. Atkins, son of Rev. War soldier Lewis Atkins.)
