Pfc G. W. Wyatt, 27, was killed in
action in France July
16. The War Department has notified his
sister, Mrs. J. H. Keel of Route 3, Dover.
Overseas for the past six months, Private Wyatt was serving with
the
Infantry. He has been in the Army since
March 1941. He is the son of the late
Tom and Willie Bell Wall Wyatt and was married to Miss Charline Barnes

1943. His
survivors include his wife
and little son, G. W., Jr., of Route 3 Dover; four sisters, Mrs. J. H.
Keel of
Route 3 Dover, Mrs. Irene Knight of Big Rock, Mrs. Charlie Brumley of
Clarksville, and Mrs. Dell Cheatham of Herrin, IL; five brothers,
Charlie,
Tommie and Haywood Wyatt of Route 3, Dover; Allen Wyatt of St. Louis,
MO; and
Pfc. Monroe Wyatt of Camp McCoy, WI.
(Note:
On his
paternal side, G. W. Wyatt was a grandson of Mitchell James Wyatt, one
of the
Wyatt twins raised by Charles and Rachel Atkins Roper in Stewart Co.,
TN. He was the great grandson of Bazel and
Martha Hood Smith. On his maternal
side, he was a gg grandson of Rev War soldier Lewis Atkins.)
