Services at Big Rock for R. Leslie Smith

Robert Leslie Smith, 67, farmer, died at his home in Big Rock, Tenn., Sunday, Nov. 25th, after an illness of four years.  Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at the Big Rock Baptist Church.  Bro. Edward Camp officiated and burial was in the Smith Cemetery.  Active pallbearers were O’Neal McGinnis, Dean Hargis, Bobby Feltner, Jimmie Barnett, Raymond Feltner and Hugh Smith.  Honorary pallbearers included Parker Ellis, Carl Cato, Boyd Martin, Baxter Martin, Will Young, Ben Ezell, Reams Wilson, Joe Smith and Will Smith.  Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Stewart County and a son of the late Jim and Callie Wyatt Smith.  He was a member of the Baptist Church.  Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John Parker, Big Rock, Tenn.; three sons, Roy Smith, Clarksville, Tenn.; Ray Smith, U.S. Army, Montgomery, Ala.; William Smith, Pulaski, Tenn.; a sister, Mrs. Madie Hargis, Clarksville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.  Milligan and Ridgeview were in charge of funeral arrangements.

(Note:  Robert Leslie Smith’s mother was Miranda Caroline “Callie” Wyatt, daughter of  Rachel Miranda Roper and Eli John Wyatt.  Eli John Wyatt was one of the Wyatt twins raised by Rachel Miranda Roper’s parents, Rachel Atkins and Charles Roper.  Robert Leslie was a gg grandson of Rev. War soldier Lewis Atkins.)
