Orman H. Atkins
Jul 30, 1906 – May 23, 1974

Orman H. Atkins, 67, retired foreman, B.F. Goodrich employee of 896 Greenwood Ave., died at 7:30 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital following a short illness.  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Forest Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Archie Bridges.  Burial will be in Greenwood with Tarpley's Funeral Home in charge.  Mr. Atkins was born in Stewart Co., July 30, 1906, son of the late Henry and Rhoda Wyatt Atkins.  He was a member of Forest Street United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 89 and the Odd Fellows, and served as a magistrate for the Montgomery Co. Court from 1970-73.  He was a veteran of WWII.  Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Birdie Blackwell Atkins; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Jones, Clarksville; three brothers, Richard and Irvin, Clarksville; Graham Atkins, Guthrie, KY, one grandchild.  Pallbearers will be John Bogard, Roy Williams, Edward Harvey, Eugene Bumpus, Reams Wyatt, Elbert C. Smith, Max Jarrells, and Kenneth Atkins.  The body is at the funeral home until the hour of service.

(Note:  Orman H. Atkins was a great grandson of Bazel and Martha Hood Smith and a  gg grandson of Rev. War soldier Lewis Atkins.)

The above obit shows the father of Orman H. Atkins was Henry Atkins; however, Orman was the son of Emmitt A. Atkins and Rhoda Wyatt Atkins.
