Services for Mrs. Smith

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Alice Smith, 70, of Big Rock, were held Saturday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at the Big Rock Methodist Church with Rev. R. W. Pennington, Rev. Delwin Fryer and Rev. Howard Springer officiating.  Burial was in the Smith Cemetery with Milligan Funeral Home in charge.  Pallbearers were Reams Wilson, Robert Parker, Richard Hancock, Parker Ellis, John Parker and Ausbon Ezell.  Mrs. Smith was a life long resident of Stewart County.  She was a daughter of the late Elizabeth Vick and Lewis H. Heflin.  Survivors include her husband, Thomas Smith of Big Rock, one brother, Lurton L. Heflin of Keystone Hgts., Florida, three sisters, Mollie Harrison of Dover; Maggie Joiner of Clarksville; and Addie Parker of Big Rock.  She was a member of the Methodist Church.

(Note:  Annie’s paternal grandmother was Frances Atkins Heflin whose grandfather was  Rev. War soldier Lewis Atkins.)
