Birdie Wall Cherry

Birdie W. Cherry, 87, Dover, died Sunday, July 19 at Memorial Hospital.  The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Anglin Memorial Chapel, Dover, with the Rev. Carl Alexander officiating.  Burial was held in Hillcrest Cemetery, Dover.  Visitation continued until the hour of the service.  She was born in Stewart County on June 11, 1900, a daughter of Charles A. and Drucilla H. Wall.  She was the widow of Charles E. Cherry, Sr.   She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of Dover.  Survivors include two sons, Edward Cherry, Dover; and Leroy Cherry, Paducah, Ky; four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  Her grandsons were pallbearers.

(Note:  Birdie’s paternal grandmother was Rachel M. Atkins, a granddaughter of Rev. War soldier Lewis Atkins.)
