Johnie Parchman Atkins

Johnie P. Atkins, 88, Clarksville, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Montgomery County Nursing Home, Clarksville.  The funeral was May 6 at McReynolds – Nave & Larson Funeral Home, Clarksville, with Neal – Tarpley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  The Rev. Roger Freeman officiated.  Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Clarksville.  She was born May 13, 1911, in Stewart County, daughter of Russ and Ida Mae Sykes Parchman.  Mrs. Atkins was retired from B. F. Goodrich Co. of Clarksville.  She was a member of the company’s retirees club and a member of First Baptist Church and Steadfast Sunday School Class.  Survivors include her husband, Edgar T. Atkins, Jr.; a daughter, Patsy A. L’Hommedieu, Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.  Pallbearers were Daniel L’Hommedieu, Jeff Welch, Alan Markeles, Bill Hadley, Lonnie Bumpus, Jack Bumpus, and John Mark Atkins.  Memorial contributions may be made to the “Find Us Faithful” building program at First Baptist Church, 435 Madison St., Clarksville, Tenn. 37040, or to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 1919 Glen Echo Road, Nashville, Tenn. 37215.
