Charlie E. Lewis

Dover - Charlie E. Lewis, 77, retired farmer of Indian Mound, TN, died Wednesday at his residence after an extended illness.  Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. today at the Indian Mound United Methodist Church by the Rev. W. I. Holder.  Burial will be in Roper Cemetery, Route 3, Dover, Milligan Funeral Home in charge.  Mr. Lewis was born in Stewart Co., March 8, 1895, son of the late Robert and Betty Smith Lewis. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.  Survivors are four sons, Luton and Charles, Dover; Rannie, Big Rock; and Carlos Lewis, Indian Mound; four daughters, Mrs. Alice Dunnelly and Mrs. Charlene Thoni, both of Nashville; Mrs. Louise Curry, Augusta, GA, and Mrs. Corrine Peacher, Huntsville, AL; a sister Mrs. Minerva Byrd, Dover; 20 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

(Note:  Charlie E. Lewis was a gg grandson of Rev. War soldiers Lewis Atkins and Thomas Lewis.  His wife, Eula Gladys Wyatt Lewis, was the granddaughter of Eli John W. Wyatt, one of the Wyatt twins raised by Charles and Rachel Atkins Roper in Stewart County.)
