Charles Earl Atkins, 42, died Monday, February 8, of a self inflicted shot gun wound at his home at 705 Woodmont Drive in Clarksville. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 at the Big Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Camp officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dewlyn Fryer. Burial was in Smith Cemetery; Milligan and Ridgeway was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Atkins was born in Stewart County, March 30, 1911. He was married to Geneva Joiner Atkins, who survives, on Nov 1, 1930. He had resided in Montgomery County for the past eight years and had been employed at Ft. Campbell, KY. He was a son of Henry Atkins and the late Gertie Bryant Atkins. He was a member of the Big Rock Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Geneva J. Atkins, a son, Alfred R. Atkins; three brothers, Leroy Atkins and Edgar Atkins, Clarksville; Vernon Atkins, Dover; one sister, Mrs. Marie Lewis, Clarksville.
