Nannie Givens Shepherd

Mrs. Shepherd Dies; Rites Wednesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Nannie Shepherd, 83, were held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the home of her son with Rev. Howard Springer officiating.  Burial was in the Hall cemetery with Wiseman Funeral Home in charge.  Mrs. Shepherd died Tuesday at the home of a son, Reams Shepherd, of Indian Mound, TN, following an illness of five weeks.  She was a member of the Rose Valley Methodist Church.  A native of Stewart County, she was the daughter of the late James and Martha Edwards Givens and was married to D. S. Shepherd who died in 1950.  She is survived by seven sons, Reams, Calvin, Morris, Smith, Lucian, Archie and Joe Shepherd, all of Indian Mound, TN; five sisters, Mrs. Ella Lewis, Mrs. Mary Byrd, Mrs. Lula Halliday and Mrs. Pennie Smith, all of Indian Mound; 25 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

(Note:  Nannie was married to Drew Spencer Shepherd.  The obit referred to her five sisters; however, only four were named.)
