Hallie T. Wyatt Smith Bumpus

Dover - Mrs. Hallie T. Bumpus, 89, died this morning in Montgomery County Nursing Home after an extended illness.  She was a resident of Route 3, Dover.  Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Anglin Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Norman Lancaster and the Rev. Delbert Homol.  Burial will be in Wyatt Cemetery.  Mrs. Bumpus was born in Stewart County Jan 8, 1888, daughter of the late John and Mandy Smith Wyatt.  She was a member of Wyatt's Chapel United Methodist Church.  Survivors are her husband, Andrew Bumpus, whom she married June 12, 1960; three stepsons, Haskell Bumpus, Big Rock; Browning Bumpus, Indian Mound; Henry Bumpus, Clarksville; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Ruth Butts, Clarksville; Mrs. Josephine Lewis, Woodlawn; Mrs. Gustie Darr, Madison, TN; 16 stepgrandchildren and five stepgreatgrandchildren.

(Note:  Hallie T. Wyatt was first married to Gus H. Smith.  Her grandfather Eli John W. Wyatt was one of the Wyatt twins raised by Charles and Rachel Atkins Roper in Stewart County.)
