Chester Milton Atkins

Prominent Farmer Buried Sunday

Funeral services for Chester Milton Atkins, 45, prominent farmer of the Indian Mound community, were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m.  Burial was in the family cemetery.  Survivors are his wife, Elva; three children, Bruce, Estelle and Ted; and seven brothers, Richard Atkins, Indian Mound; Graham Atkins of Oakwood; Clinton Atkins of Clarksville; and Fred, Irvin, Orman, and Eric Atkins of New Providence.  Pallbearers were Mac Bellamy, Clifford and Lee Smith, Harold Mann, Dewey Vaughn, and Franklin Smith.  Honorary pallbearers: Bailey and Hobert Smith, Herman Tippit, John Summers, Emmett Threatt, Edgar and B. B. Lewis, and Johnny Lehman.  Milligan & Ridgeway in charge of burial services.

(Note:  Chester Milton Atkins was a gg grandson of Rev. War soldier Lewis Atkins.)
