Minerva Lewis Byrd

            Minerva Lewis Byrd, 89, Stewart County, died Aug 1 at Memorial Hospital in Clarksville after an extended illness.
            She was a retired Stewart County school teacher.
            Services were at 2 p.m., Aug 3 at Anglin Memorial Chapel in Dover with Bryan Fyke officiating.  Burial was in the Rose Valley Cemetery in Indian Mound.
            Born in Stewart County on July 31, 1892, she was the daughter of the late R. P. Lewis and Betty Smith Lewis.
            She was the widow of John E. Byrd.
            She was a member of the Wyatts Chapel United Methodist Church.
            Survivors include five sons, Norman Lewis of Dickson;  Oliver H. Byrd of Indian Mound; Elvis L. and Henry I. Byrd of Granite City, IL; and Burris B.Byrd of Dover; a stepson, Wylie Byrd of Indian Mound; a daughter, Ann E. Elliott of Dover; a stepdaughter, Clara Smith of Dover; 34 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
            Grandsons served as pallbearers.

(Note:  Minerva A. Lewis Byrd was the gg granddaughter of Rev. War soldiers Lewis Atkins and Thomas Lewis.)
