George Irvin Manners
Mar 23, 1896 – Apr 23, 1975

            George Irvin Manners, 79, Route 1, Woodlawn, died Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. in Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness.
            Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at McReynolds Funeral Home by the Rev. W. I. Holder and the Rev. Lamar Smith.  Burial will be in Greenwood.
            Mr. Manners was born in Stewart Co., March 23, 1896, but had lived in Montgomery Co. 35 years.  He was the son of the late George M. and Mary Ella Griffin Manners.  His wife, Mrs. Effie Austin Manners, died Feb. 25, 1965.
He was a member of Wyatt’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was an Army veteran of WWI.
Survivors are four sons, Elvin and Ray Manners, Clarksville; Gilbert Manners, Hopkinsville, KY; Delmar Manners, Woodlawn; six daughters, Mrs. Elzie Chester, Mrs. Howard Chester, Mrs. Betty Ezekiel, Mrs. Russel Hayner, Clarksville; Mrs. Edwin Norfleet, Houston, TX; Mrs. Owen Schroeder, Ft. Meade, MD; a sister, Mrs. Edgar Wortham, Legate, TN; 26 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
            Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
