John Daniel Lewis

John Daniel Lewis, 72, Clarksville, died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Gateway Medical Center, Clarksville.  The funeral was June 11 at Anglin Funeral Home, Dover.  Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Indian Mound.  He was born on May 5, 1928, in Stewart County, son of Tom H. Lewis and Ruth Free Lewis.  Mr. Lewis was a member of Cross Creek Baptist Church.  Survivors include three brothers, Bob Lewis, Clarksville; Jesse Lewis, Dover; and Joe Lewis, Knoxville; three sisters, Cecille Powers and Rose Roe, both of Clarksville; and Nell Wallace, Dover.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the John Daniel Lewis Scholarship Fund at Austin Peay State University or to Gideon International.

(John Daniel Lewis was the grandson of George Rufus Lewis, the great grandson of Devereaux Jarrett Lewis and the gg grandson of Elizabeth Atkins and Daniel Lewis.  He was the ggg grandson of Rev War soldier Lewis Atkins.)
