Effie Lucille Roper Quarles
Nov 9, 1912 – Feb 10, 1993

Lucille Roper Quarles, 80, of Metropolis Lake Road, West Paducah, died Wednesday at 6:25 p.m. at the home of her daughter.  Mrs. Quarles was a retired deputy circuit court clerk and a member of the Bible Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.  Her husband, John Quarles, two brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.  Her parents were E. J. Roper, Sr., and Effie Virginia Stamper Roper.  Mrs. Quarles is survived by one son, Charles E. Quarles of West Paducah; one daughter, Marcia McKinney of Paducah; one sister, Dorothy King of Paducah; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Roth Funeral Chapel.  The Revs. Don Young and Johnnie Sams will officiate.  Burial will be in McKendree United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.

(Note:  Effie Lucille Roper Quarles was the daughter of Edwin Jasper Roper whose parents were Marcus Lindsey Roper (son of Rachel Atkins and Charles Roper) and Elizabeth Melissa Atkins (daughter of George B. Atkins and Sarah Matheny).  She was a great granddaughter of Rev. War soldier Lewis Atkins and his wife Rebecca.)
