Rites in Stewart
Clarksville - Funeral services
for Henry Lewis Atkins, 70,
retired farmer who died Monday, were to be held this afternoon at
Wyatt's
Chapel Methodist Church near Dover.
Mr. Atkins, a
native of Stewart County who had resided here
four years, died at the home of a son, Edgar Atkins, Route 5, after a
short
illness.
The Rev.
Eunice Crow and the Rev. Delwyn Fryer were to
conduct the rites and burial was to be in Hall Cemetery.
Mr. Atkins was
a son of the late Charles and Mattie Wyatt
Atkins. He was first married to Miss
Gertrude Bryant, who died in 1919.
Later he married Miss Maude Austin, who died in 1945.
He was a
member of Rose Valley Methodist Church.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs.
Oscar Lewis, Clarksville; two sons, Roy Atkins, Clarksville; and Vernon
Atkins,
Dover; four sisters, Mrs. Gus Wyatt, Dover; Mrs. Horace Wallace, Indian
Mound,
Mrs. Onis Johnson, Clarksville; and Mrs. Bonnie King, Granite City, IL;
and
four brothers, Paul Atkins, Cumberland City; DeWitt Atkins, Dover; and
Allen
and Herschel Atkins, Clarksville.
